New Construction Of The Petrus-Canisius-Schule Weeze Primary School. 1.1 Project Subject The Subject Of The Proceedings Is The Design Of A New Building For The Petruscanisiusschool Including Outdoor Facilities For A Primary School On Bodelwickelstrasse In The Municipality Of Weeze. This Is Variant B, Which Is Described In More Detail In Appendix 1 “Feasibility Study”. The Background Motivation For This Project Lies In The Continuously Growing Number Of Students Within The Community Of Weeze And The Associated Towns Of Wemb, Laar And Heesbaal. As A Result, The Existing Primary School In Wasserstrasse No Longer Offers Enough Space For Future Developments. The Solution Is To Build A Modern, Three-Class Elementary School On The Property On Bodelwickelstrasse. The Existing School Buildings On Bodelschwinghstrasse Were Used By The Kevelaerweeze Comprehensive School Until 2019 And Have Been Empty Since Then. With The Council Resolution Of December 13, 2022, The Municipality Of Weeze Decided To Build A New Elementary School. The School Was Only Used Temporarily As A Vaccination Center, Among Other Things. Only The Sports Hall And The Associated Ancillary Areas Should Be Retained. The Central Architectural Concept For This School Is Its Orientation As A Cluster School With The Addition Of An Open All-Day School. The Main Pedagogical Idea Here Is That The School Should Not Only Be A Place For Learning, But Also For Life And A Variety Of Activities. The Task Is To Create An Inspiring Environment For Students And Teachers To Learn And Teach Together. Spaces Should Be Designed For Social Interaction And Educational Development. The Clusters Should Be Year-Specific And Each Contain A Group Room For The Ogs, So That There Can Be A Very Strong Network Between Teaching And Supervision. In Addition To The School Complex, The Sports Hall That Already Exists On The Property Will Be Retained And Expanded To Include An Equipment Room. This Underlines The Holistic Nature Of The Educational Concept, Which Not Only Promotes School Lessons But Also Sporting Activities And Leisure Opportunities. A Total Of 4,900 M² Of Gross Floor Plan Area (Gfa) With A Nuf Of Approx. 3,150 M² Are To Be Planned For The School Building And Approx. 3,700 M² Of Surrounding And Connected Open Spaces With A Playground. The Additional Access Areas Outside Were Determined To Be Approx. 1,150M². A Particularly Highlighted Concern Of The Weeze Community Is The Sustainability Of This Project. The Planning Should Be Characterized By A Holistic And Resource-Saving Approach. Energy-Efficient Operation Of The Building Is A Fundamental Requirement. In Addition, Groundbreaking Design Concepts Are Expected That Achieve Optimal Overall Economy, Comfort, Usability And Architectural Quality. This Goes Hand In Hand With A Minimal Use Of Energy And Resources. The Municipality Of Weeze Sees This Project As An Opportunity To Not Only Build A Functional School Building, But Also To Create A Lively Educational Environment That Meets The Needs Of The Students And The Entire Community. The Combination Of State-Of-The-Art Architecture, Ecological Responsibility And An Innovative Educational Concept Is Intended To Make A Sustainable Contribution To The Future Of Education In Weeze.
