Bow River Bridge Rehabilitation Program 2023 . *** Addendum #1 Has Been Posted On September 5, 2023 *** The Town Of Banff (Town) Invites Interested Parties To Submit Tenders For The Bow River Bridge Rehabilitation Program 2023, In Banff, Alberta. This Year S Bridge Rehabilitation Works Include Masonry Repairs, Architectural Repairs, Concrete Repairs, Epoxy Crack Injection, Bearing Refurbishments, Girder End Paint Repairs, And In-Stream Riprap Installation At Piers. The Town Of Banff, Located In Banff National Park, Is Part Of The Canadian Rocky Mountain Unesco World Heritage Site. The Banff Bow River Bridge Is A Critical Piece Of Infrastructure For The Town For Multiple Reasons. Foremost, This Bridge Is The Sole Vehicular Land Crossing, And Only One Of Three Pedestrian And Active Mode Land Crossings, Over The Bow River To The South Of Banff Within The Town Limits. Moreover, This Bridge Was Designated A Municipal Heritage Resource In 2016, By The Passing Of Bylaw 372, And Is Considered By Many People To Be An Iconic Historical Landmark Of Banff That Features Prominently In Tourist Photos And Postcards. The Banff Bow River Bridge Carries Banff Avenue Over The Bow River, With The Nearest Intersections Being Buffalo Street To The North And Cave/Spray Avenues To The Southwest/East, And With The Bow River Trail And Glen Avenue Passing Under The North And South Ends Of The Bridge Respectively. This Unique Community Strives To Consider Their Location And Surrounding Environment In Everything They Do. In Order To Sustain And Preserve Infrastructure Assets, Regular Improvement And Maintenance Is Essential. The Banff Bow River Bridge Is Now Over 100 Years Old With The Original Construction Completed In 1921 And The Most Recent Major Rehabilitation Works Completed In 1986/87. This Tender Package Is The Second And Final Tender To Be Issued As Part Of The Current Bow River Bridge Rehabilitation Program Which Started In 2022. For Context, The First Contract For The Bow River Bridge Rehabilitation Program Was Completed In June Of 2022 And Had The Following Generalized Scope Of Work: O Installation Of The Wabo Fs Bridge Seal In All 5 Existing Trough-Style Expansion Joints; O Damaged Anchor Bolts In The Expansion Joint Cover Plates Were Replaced With New Drop-In Hilti Hdi Ss303 Flush Anchors And Bolts; O The Entire Concrete Bridge Deck And Adjacent Curbs/Sidewalks Received Epoxy Crack Injection And Silane Sealer Application; A Summary Of The Rehabilitation Works For 2023/2024 Includes But Is Not Limited To (Quantities Are Approximate And Are To Be Confirmed By The Contractor In The Field): O Concrete Repairs At Piers 2, 3 And 4, With Full Depth Repairs At Pier 2 And 3 Upstream Pier Noses; O Bearing Refurbishment At 40 Bearings, With Sandblast Removal Of Existing Coating And Metallizing, And Installation Of New Bearing Anchor Bolts, At Existing Broken Anchor Bolt Locations; O Rebuild Of 40 Existing Grout Pads, With Bridge Jacking And Use Of Temporary Bearings; O Installation Of 2 New Reinforced Concrete Shear Blocks Each At Piers 2, 3 And 4, With Galvanized Steel Plates C/W Nelson Studs, And Epoxy Bonded Dowels In Drilled Holes; O Salvage, Rebuilt And Installation Of New Rundlestone Masonry At Piers And Wingwalls, And Installation Of New Riverstone Inlay At Abutments And Barriers; O Installation Of New Class 2 Riprap And Trimming Of Existing Timber Wakefield Piles At Piers 2 And 3, With Installation Of New Class 3 Pier Protection Upstream Of Pier 2; O Paint Repairs At Existing Girder Ends; O Filling Of Gaps Below Existing Cover Plates With Polyurethane Foam; O Riprap Haul Route Repair And/Or Removal And Installation Of New Acp; O See Contract Drawings, Specifications, And Manufacturer Recommendations For Further Details And Requirements. The Lowest Or Any Offer Will Not Necessarily Be Accepted. The Owner Reserves The Right To Accept Any Proposal, In Whole Or In Part, Deemed To Be In The Best Interest Of The Town Of Banff. The Tender Will Not Be Awarded Based Solely On The Quoted Price Of The Offers. Tenders Will Be Evaluated Using The Scoring Criteria Provided In The Tender Evaluation Information Section. Experience In A Similar Scope Of Work For A Minimum Of Five Years Is Mandatory. Tenderers Must Carefully Examine The Contract Documents And The Site Of The Proposed Works, Judging For And Satisfying Themselves As To The Probable Conditions To Be Encountered. Submission Of A Tender Shall Be Conclusive Evidence That The Tenderer Has Made Such Examination.
