By May 2023, These Species Were Identified In Te Rwhiti Northland, Prompting A Unified Response From Local Hap, Council, Bnz, And Mpi. This Rfp Seeks Experienced Marine Suction Dredging Providers To Address The Caulerpa Infestation In Te Rwhiti (Bay Of Islands). The Primary Goal Is To Conduct A Proof-Of-Concept Trial On The Efficacy Of Suction Dredging In Removing Caulerpa Infestations Larger Than One Hectare. This Includes Understanding The Treatments Consistency On Various Seafloors, Substrates, And Caulerpa Densities. The Trial Will Also Assess The Treatments Impact On The Mauri And Ecology, Risk Management Of Spreading Caulerpa Fragments, And Key Operational Cost Metrics. This Contract Provides An Opportunity To Shape The Future Of Marine Biosecurity Threat Management In Aotearoa/New Zealand. The Primary Outcome Is To Establish Diver-Assisted Suction Dredging As A Viable Marine Biosecurity Tool And Gather Data To Inform Large-Scale Responses.
