Norfolk Island Is One Of The Very Few Remaining Places In The World To Operate Without Containerized Freight, Due To The Lack Of Safe Anchorage At A Dock For Cargo Ships. Hence Cargo Ships Need To Anchor Offshore Whilst Their Cargo Is Then Loaded Onto Smaller Lighterage Vessels And Brought To Shore To Be Craned Onto The Pier And Then Onto Receiving Trucks. Council Requires The Manufacture, Supply And Delivery Of Two (2) New Lighterage Vessels That Can Transport A 20Ft Container Safely To And From Norfolk Island At Any One Time. This Invitation To Tender Process Is Being Managed By Peak Services On Behalf Of Norfolk Island Regional Council.
