The ProjectS Objective Is To Enhance Identification Of Flood And Drought Risks And Promote Risk-Informed Water Infrastructure Investments In South Sudan. The Grant-Funded Activities Inform The Preparation And Implementation Of The Regional Climate Resilience Program For Eastern And Southern Africa (P180171). Grant-Funded Activities Are Also Expected To Inform The Enhancing Community Resilience And Local Governance Project Phase Ii (Ecrp-Ii; P177093). Annex 2 Describes This Gfdrr Project In More Detail. The Objectives Of The Consultancy Are Two-Fold.Objective 1: Develop A First-Generation Flood And Drought Hazard Maps For South Sudan South SudanS Public Sector Agencies Currently Lack Any Consistent Database Of Flood And Drought Hazard In The Country. While Data Scarcity Makes Any Flood And Drought Hazard Assessment Partial; There Is A Need To Develop A Comprehensive First-Generation Set Of Flood And Drought Hazard Maps For South Sudan And Identify Opportunities To Enhance Hazard Mapping Moving Forward; So To Inform Investments Decisions In The Nascent Water Resources Management Sector.Objective 2: Develop A Pilot Tool And A Roadmap To Improve Data And Information Availability For Water Managementhydrological Data Is Spread Out Across Multiple National And International Agencies; That Collect Different Types Of Information Using Different Approaches. Hence; There Is A Need To Begin Consolidating This Information And Making It Easily Accessible For Policy And Practice In A Way Realistic To The National Context And The Institutional Constraints Described Above. This Consultancy Is For A Firm Or Consortium Of Consultants. While Travel To The Country Is Not A Requirement; It Is Strongly Encouraged Especially For The Delivery Of Task 4. The Participation Of Local Consultants And Experts Is Expected To Support The Delivery Of Tasks 1 And 4. The Local Counterpart Might Also Assist With Data Collection Used For The Initial Stock-Taking And Establishing Baseline Conditions. Analysis Of Information And Composing Reports Will Be The Sole Responsibility Of The Consultant; And Not The National Counterpart.
