Issue Date And Time: May 18,2023 00:00 Closing Date And Time: May 25,2023 23:59 Ifc, With Support From The Governments Of Denmark And The Netherland, Leading Apparel Brands And The Apex Textile And Apparel Industrial Association Bgmea Have Implemented The Second Phase Of The Partnership For Cleaner Textile (Pact Ii) Program In Bangladesh Since January 2018. The Overall Goal Of The Program, Which Is Scheduled To Close In December 2023, Was To Deepen Cleaner Production (Cp) Interventions And Enhance Competitiveness Across The Entire Value Chain Of The Textile And Apparel Sector Of Bangladesh Including Textile Mills, Wet Dyeing And Finishing Units And Garment Factories. This Would Be Done Through The Adoption Of Resource Efficient Technologies And Practices By Participating Factories Which Was Expected To Lead To Cost Savings And Operational Efficiencies Through Reduced Water, Energy, Chemical Use And Ghg Emissions. Working With Global Apparel Brands And Selected Supplier Factories, The Project Was Expected To Achieve Impact Such As Financing Facilitated, Water, Chemical And Energy Use Avoided, Wastewater Discharge Reduced, And Ghg Emission Avoided. Pact Ii Built On The First Phase Of The Program Which Was Implemented Between January 2013 And December 2017. As Of December 2022, The Advisory Services Provided Under Both Phases Since 2017 Reached 338 Factories And Have Resulted In A Reduction Of Fresh Water Consumption By 25 Million M3/Year And Wastewater Discharge By 21.08 Million M3/Year. These Factories Now Save 2.5 Million Mwh/Year In Energy And Avoid Greenhouse Gas Emissions Of Up To 489,796 Tons/Year Of Co2.
