The Council Is Not Allowed To Grant A Licence To A Hackney Carriage Or Private Hire Vehicle Unless It Is Satisfied That The Vehicle Is Suitable In Type, Size And Design, Is In A Suitable Mechanical Condition, Safe And Comfortable. Section 50 (1) Of The Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 Allows The Licensing Authority To Request The Proprietor Of Any Licensed Hackney Carriage Or Any Private Hire Or Applicant For Such A Licence To Present The Vehicle For Test At Whatever Place The Council Specifies; That Place Must Be ‘Within The Area Of The Council’. Currently, The Council Is Looking To Source Testing Facilities Available Within The Council’S Macclesfield Hackney Carriage Zone. The Council’S Conditions And Policy Controls The Frequency Of Tests And Age Of Vehicles To Undergo The Cheshire East Compliance Test (Cec Test). We Currently Licence 700+ Vehicles Across The Borough And 350+ In The Macclesfield Zone.
