Tenders Are Invited For Promoting Local Economic Development Through Inland Waterway Transportation In Kolkata Metropolitan The Main Objective Of This Consultancy Is To Assist The World Bank Project Team In Better Understanding The Opportunities And Strategies Of Leveraging Inland Water Transportation (Iwt) Infrastructure Investments To (I) Promote Local Economic Development For The Urban Areas Surrounding The 34 Jetties Upgraded Under Wbilsdp; (Ii) Improve Iwt-Based Tourism Services Within Kma And Broader Northeast Region In India, And (Iii) Integrating Resilience And Improving Last Mile Connectivity To Promote Iwt Usage For Improved Access To Economic Activities.This Assignment Is Composed Of The Following Activities: A. Promoting Local Economic Development Through Iwt: Within A 500M Radius Of Ten Selected Jetties Improved Under Wbilsdp (Study Area), The Key Stakeholders And Status Of The Local Economy Will Be Analyzed To Identify The Constraint And The Opportunities For Future Development. The Study Will Then Explore The Role And Potential Of Iwt In Promoting Local Economic Development And Recommend Strategies To Further Leverage Iwt Infrastructure To Maximize Local Economic Opportunities. B. Leveraging Iwt To Improve Tourism Services: This Study Will Assess The Current And Projected Demand Of Tourism Activities In Kma, Current Gaps And Future Potential Of The Iwt Passenger Service For Promoting Tourism And Recommend Ways To Enhance Iwt-Based Tourism Both Within Kma And Within The Broader Region. C. Integrating Resilience And Improving Last Mile Connectivity To Promote Iwt Usage For Improved Access To Economic Activities.
