Climate-Adapted Qualification Of The Garden Monument Stadtpark West-Arnoldigarten In Gotha. The City Of Gotha Is Planning To Qualify The Frequented Local Recreation Area Stadtpark West Arnoldigarten Within The Spatial Limits Of The Historic Listed Landscape Park And The Adjacent Forest Park. The Aim Is To Counteract Or Prevent The Increasing Damage Caused By Climate Effects Such As Heat/Drought Stress On The Forest Stock And Soil Erosion As A Result Of Heavy Rain Events. The Project Is Carried Out Under The Leadership Of The Municipal Garden Department And With The Involvement Of Associated Authorities, Such As E.G. B. District Office, Thuringian Forestry Office, State Office For The Preservation Of Monuments And Stakeholders, Such As E.G. B. Nature Conservation Associations, Leisure Clubs And The Citizenship. The Total Area Of ​​The Local Recreation Area Stadtpark West Is 290 Ha. The Areas To Which The Present Project Relates Are The Core Areas Close To The City With The Approx. 19 Ha Landscape Park And The Approx. 14 Ha Forest Park Which Have The Greatest Density Have Cultural And Historical Traces And Are The Most Visited.The Area To Be Considered Thus Covers A Total Of Approx. According To The Project Call Of January 15Th, 2021 By The Federal Ministry Of The Interior For Building And Community For Adaptation Of Urban Areas To Climate Change And The Submitted Project Outline With Three Project Priorities To Be Worked Out (1.) Forest Conversion, (2.) Water Management/Strengthening The Water Retention Function/Guidance And Use Of Rainwater And (3.) Strengthening Of The Recreational/Use Function, The City Of Gotha Received The Grant Notification (Zwb) From The Sponsor, The Federal Institute For Building, Urban Affairs And Spatial Research (Bbsr) On November 21, 2022 To Secure The Financing Of The Project Federal Office For Building And Regional Planning (Bbr). The Estimated Total Costs In The Present Funding Project For Non-Structural And Structural Measures Are €1,000,000 Gross. The Funding Rate Is 90% And Thus €900,000 Gross In Grants. The Overall Cost Framework Of €1,000,000 Gross Must Be Observed. Short Description Of The Planning Order All Measures Approved In The Zwb Are Grouped Into The Following Three Project Priorities Under (1.) Forest Conversion, (2.) Water Management/Strengthening The Water Retention Function/Guidance And Use Of Rainwater And (3.) Strengthening The Recreational/Use Function. (1) Forest Conversion: As A Result Of The Recent Drought Summers, Over 80% Of The Leading Tree Species Have Either Died Off Or Are In The Resignation Phase. A Removal Of Dead And Endangered Trees On Approx. 20 Ha Of Forest Area Is Necessary. A Climate-Friendly Forest Conversion And The Introduction Of Climate-Resistant And V. A. Drought-Tolerant Shrubs Is Necessary. (2) Water Management/ Strengthening The Water Retention Function/ Control And Use Of Rainwater: At Several Neuralgic Points In The Project Area, There Are Problems With Ditches And Paths Being Washed Out As A Result Of Heavy Rain Events, With The Corresponding Considerable Risk Of Soil Erosion. The Planning Objective Is Holistic Water Management With The Following Focal Points: Slowdown In Runoff Velocities Water Retention, Transport Above And Below Ground As A Water Reservoir Seepage And Use Of Rainwater In The Area To Strengthen Ecosystem Services (3) Strengthening Of The Recreational/Utility Function Of The Park: The Current Condition And Equipment Of The Park Is Reduced And Thus Prevents It From Fulfilling Its Function As A Place For Relaxation, Cooling Off And Social Encounters Or Sporting Activities. In Order To Be Able To Do Justice To The Increasing Importance Of The Park As A Place Of Retreat And Recreation, As A Place For Social Interaction As Well As For Sports And Leisure Activities In The Course Of Climate Change, Structural Upgrades And An Increase In Recreational And Usage Functions Are Necessary With Regard To Various User Interests.
