This Involves Changes To The Rail Signaling System, Civil Works Amendments To The Crossing And Then The Commissioning Of The New System. These Measures Will Minimise The Risk Of Accidents And Incidents On The Pedestrian Rail Crossings Across Auckland. Auckland TransportS Vision Zero Goal Is For No Deaths Or Serious Injuries On Our Transport Network By 2050. At Acknowledges That It Has A Responsibility To Provide And Maintain Appropriate Safe Access To Rail Platforms And Across Rail Corridors. The Auckland Region Contains 31 Combined Vehicle/Pedestrian Rail Level Crossings And 20 Pedestrian Rail Level Crossings, The Majority Of Which Are On The Core Networks Between Swanson (Western Line) And Papakura (Southern Line). Starting In 2017, Auckland TransportS Pt Infrastructure Team Has Been Undertaking A Safety Critical Programme Of Works To Gate Pedestrian Level Crossings To Reduce The Risk Of Pedestrians Being Struck By Oncoming Trains. The Project Team Has So Far Successfully Delivered Upgraded Pedestrian Crossings At 19 Sites.
