Tenders Are Invited For Crop Mapping In Papua New Guinea The Pacific Observatory Is The World Bank Analytical Program Exploring New Data Sources To Mitigate The Impact Of Data Gaps In The Pacific Region. As Part Of An Assessment Of Gaps Across Sectoral Themes, The Team Identified Crop Type Maps As A Critical Resource That Is Missing For Many Countries In The Region.The Team Is Seeking A Firm To Develop New Crop Masks For Papua New Guinea (Png) By Combining Limited Training Data Available With Satellite Imagery (Optical, Multispectral, Synthetic Aperture Radar, Or A Combination Thereof), With The Objective Of Enabling Future Remote Sensing Analyses And Monitoring Capabilities.The Contractor Shall Develop, Test, And Present A Methodology To Address Various Challenges Associated With Crop Mapping In Png (Limited Training Data, Prevalence Of Root Crops And Shifting Cultivation Practices, Persistence Of Clouds) And Produce Reliable High-Resolution Crop Masks. This Effort Will Be Split Into Two Tasks, One Focused On Creating A Balanced Training Dataset, And The Second Focused On Applying Classification Models To Differentiate Crops And Land Cover Classes.
