Expression Of Interest Are Invited For Business Management Mentorship And Monitoring - Green Jobs For Rural Youth Employment. Deadline: 06-Feb-2023 23:00 (Gmt 0.00) Western Europe Time, London, Lisbon, Casablanca The Food And Agriculture Organization Of The United Nations (Fao), Intends To Pre-Qualify A Group Of Organizations In A Timely Manner, And Potentially Solicit Proposals From Them Shortly Thereafter. The Services/Outputs Being Sourced Are: Since 1978, Fao Has Been Operational In Sierra Leone. Throughout This Period, It Has Carried Out Many Interventions In The Food And Agricultural Sector That Have Helped, To A Large Extent, Alleviate Hunger, Food Security, Improve Rural Populations Livelihood, And To Improve Agricultural Practices. Fao Continues To Be An Important Provider Of Technical Support To Government Of Sierra Leone And Strong Collaborator With Other Un Agencies, Ngos, Civil Society, And Rural Communities With A Focus On Eliminating Hunger, Improving Food Security And Achieving Sustainable Agriculture Through Improved Farming Methods And Protection Of The Environment. Our Work Is Part Of The Corporate Commitment To Support Member States To Achieve The Sustainable Development Goals (Sdgs) By 2030, Especially Sdg 2 On Zero Hunger. Fao Has Received Funds From Korea Via The Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica), For The Implementation Of 4.5 Years Project Called: Green Jobs For Rural Youth Employment (Gj4rye) Project Duration: 54 Months, Dec 2019 -June 2024 Resource Partners; Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica) Beneficiaries: Through This Global Project, A Mix Of Selected Rural (80%) And Urban Youth (20%) In Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe And Timor-Leste Are Provided With Capacity Development Opportunities Across Green Agriculture, Green Energy, And Green Waste Management Sectors, And Transferable Soft Skills (Problem Solving, Communication, Teamwork, Gender Leadership, Green Business Development, And Financial Literacy). The Participants Have Identified A Local Issue And Proposed Green Jobs Solutions That Can Be Applied To Address The Problem. Participants With Selected Proposals By Either Public Or Private Sector Will Be Offered A 2-Year Employment (Public Employment Programme) Or Green Entrepreneurship Track (Get) Opportunity. A Total Of 71 Proposals Were Submitted For The Entrepreneurship Programme, By 110 Project Beneficiaries From The 5 Districts: 19 Groups (58 Participants) And 52 Individual Submissions. Finally, 36 Proposals (Which Include 65 Participants) Were Selected. Among Them 14 Are Group Proposals And 10 Are Existing Businesses. The Selected Youth Will Be Granted With A Mentorship Programme And Seed Money To Develop Their Green Business For Up To 2 Years. The Mentorship Programme Is Composed Of Two Sections: Mentorship Category A: Sustainable Green Agriculture (Covered By The Ministry Of Agriculture) And Mentorship Category B: Business Management. Through This Call Fao Is Looking For A Service Provider With Expertise In Entrepreneurship, Start-Up Mentoring And Business Monitoring To Support The Implementation Of The Mentorship Category B: Business Management And Provide Monitoring Services Of The Seed Money Distribution And Use By The Grants Beneficiaries. The Overall Objective Of The Project Is To: Provide Rural (80%) And Urban (20%) Youth With Green Jobs Through A Green Entrepreneurship Programme (Get) And Wage Initiative. The Beneficiaries Selected For The Get Programme Are Provided With Financial Support And A Mentorship Programme. The Mentorship Programme Will Provide Them With Soft And Technical Skills Related To Sustainable Agriculture And Green Business Management. Target Beneficiaries: 65 Youth (Grouped In 36 Proposals) Duration: 1 Year The Main Services Are: 1. Monitor Business Implementation And Grant Use 2. Provide Business Mentorship Support 1. Monitoring Description Fao Has Put In Place A Grant Scheme To Support The Young Agripreneurs With Seed Money. This Financial Support Will Be Distributed In Three Different Batches, Upon The Completion Of The Milestone Defined Beforehand By Each Entrepreneur Team. Together With The Milestones, A Business Plan, Budget, Financial And Work Plan Have Been Developed To Guide The Implementation Of Each Start-Up. Objective: - Monitoring The Business Implementation And Development In Compliance With The Business Plan, Grant Agreement And Milestone Plan. Activities: - Monitor Business Viability, Sustainability, Gender Equality And Compliance With Decent Work Principles - Work With The Ministry Of Agriculture In Each District, To Verify The Achievement Of The Milestone Plan And The Use Of The Seed Money According To The Foreseen Budget. - In Collaboration With The Ministry Of Agriculture At District Level, Revise Constituency Of The Beneficiaries Financial And Technical Report, By Collecting On-Site Invoices And Pictures Of The Materials Bought And Land Leased, Work Achieved Before The Release Of The Next Tranches. - Perform Monitoring On Site Visit For Data Collection To Ensure The Compliance Between The Initial Financial Plan And On-Site Investments. - Verification And Quantification Of Cash And In-Kind Beneficiaries Contribution. 2. Business Mentorship Description The Business Management Mentorship Is Expected To Support The Mentees To Start Their New Business Or Consolidate Their Existing Enterprise, By Transferring Business Skills And Knowledge, Financial Management, Costing And Record Keeping. This Mentorship Will Also Support The Youth To Have A Strategic Thinking And Entrepreneurs Mindset To Become A Key Actors Within The Sustainable Agri-Food System In Their District. The Interventions Are Expected To Result In Increased Sustainability And Growth Chances Of Youth Businesses Over A 12-Month Period. Fao Will Continue To Support The Youth For A Further One Year. The Mentorship Programme Is Expected To Be Transformative Experience For The Mentees. Objectives -Providing Mentorship Support To The Youth In The Development And Consolidation Of Their Agricultural Businesses. Area Of Supports The Business Mentorship Programme Is Expected To Address The Following Issues: - Business Management: Business Planning And Strategy For Sustainable Development And Growth Including Market Linkage, Enterprise Management And Leadership (E.G.Vision, Mission, Strategic Thinking, Problem Solving) - Human Resource Management (E.G. Employee Growth, Motivating A Team, Managing People, Enhancing Labour Productivity, Social Protection) - Business Development: Product Development And Market Analysis (New Or Better Products, Innovation,) - Marketing/Communications/Branding (E.G. Expand Customer Loyalty Base, Increase Access To New Markets, Enhance Visibility, Improve Social Media Communication And Digitalisation, Etc.) - Sales And Financial Aspects (E.G. Increase Sales Volume, Merchandising, Margins, Accounting) - Legal Aspect (Business Registration And Related Issues, Knowledge Of Local Policies And Legal Frameworks Applied O Smes And Farm Business.). Activities To Be Carry Out: - Develop A Mentorship Guide For The Category B (Business Management), Including: Methodology, Work Plan, Innovative Tools To Be Used By The Youth In Their Entrepreneurship Experience: Develop Smart Objectives, Define Their Vision, Action Plan, Develop Business Management Systems, Problem Solving, Accounting, Corporate Social Responsibility Etc. - Ensure A Smooth Interrelation Between Mentorship Category A (Sustainable Agriculture Practices) And B (Business Management). - Possibly Provide Training On The Good Use Of The Mentorship Guide Based On The Tot (Training Of Trainer) Methodology. - Provide Virtual Mentorship To Each Business Team To Guide The Youth In Their Mentorship Journey, Including Managing Issues And Report To Fao. - Submit Monthly Mentoring Reports And Progress Report After Each Grant Release To Fao And Mentees Per Business. - Attend Mentees Queries And Maintain Direct Communication With The Youth Participants Using Diverse Channels, Such As E-Mail, Whatsapp, Phone To Receive Questions And Set Up Mentoring Appointments, As Needed. - Provide A Final Report At The End Of The Year. In A Bid To Achieve The Objective Of The Intervention, Fao Is Seeking Expression Of Interest From Implementing Partners (Ngo, Cbo, Training Centre Or University) To Roll Out Activities Thereby Contributing To The Outcome And Impact Of The Intervention. The Monitoring And Mentorship Programme Will Provide The Technical Support To The Youth Candidates To Successfully Implement Their Business Plans And Make Their Business Greener. Technical Support On Agriculture Aspect Would Be Mainly Provided On-Site, While Business Management Mentorship And Monitoring Will Mainly Be Delivered Virtually Through Cell Phone, E-Mail Or Whatsapp. Mandatory Minimum Requirements -In Order To Qualify, The Organizations Intending To Participate Must Meet The Following Requirements: Be Legally Registered Organization. Not Be Currently Suspended Or Debarred By Fao, Any Other Un Organization, The Eu Or The World Bank. Has The Expertise And Experience In Working With Youth In The Agriculture, Food Security And Livelihood Project; Proven Capacity Of Physically Operating In The 5 Project Districts; At Least 5 Years Of Work Experience In Monitoring, Mentorship, Or Business Development Services. At Least 1 Proven Working Experience With An International Organization (Preferably Un Agency) ; Excellent Understanding Of Financial Management For Micro, Small, And Medium Enterprises Ideally In The Agriculture Sector; Excellent Communication Skills And Ability To Work In Collaboration With Other Experts And Business Development Service Providers; Be Familiar With Innovative Tools Such As The Theory Of Change, Design Thinking, Agile, Lean Start-Up Or Any Similar Methodology; Flexible In Working Hours-Ability To Work Evening And Weekends Tender Link : Https://Www.Ungm.Org/Public/Notice/190464
