Tenders Are Invited For Kinsale Fishermans Pontoon BALAMI 2022

The purpose of the project is to replace the existing fisherman’s pontoons. The proposed pontoon will occupy the same spatial area as the existing. The existing pontoon was installed circa mid-1990s and has undergone major repair projects in 2013 and 2021 (replacement of chains). The pontoons are steel framed with timber deck construction on fiber concrete coated buoyancy tanks which are restrained in position using a steel chain and 5T concrete block anchor system. The pontoons are equipped with mooring cleats, bollards, handrails, lifebuoys, fire extinguishers, water taps & electrical sockets, a ladder, and navigation masts. The Client has carried out a preliminary design of the mooring system, anchor blocks and chains. The Contractor shall verify that the proposed mooring arrangement is adequate for the system load requirements. The works will include the following: • Removal, temporary storage and reinstallation of current gangway; • Removal & disposal of existing underwater anchor chains; • Removal & disposal of existing pontoons; • Removal, salvaging & handover of existing bollards/cleats and service towers; • Retrieval, inspection and relocation of underwater concrete anchor blocks, and the removal and disposal of surplus blocks; • Manufacturing, and installation of new underwater anchor blocks; • Supply & Installation of new underwater anchor chain, including connection to existing blocks and the new pontoons; • Detailed design, supply and installation of new concrete pontoons; • Decommissioning of existing and supply, installation and commissioning of new metered services, deck furniture, and security and safety hardware.
