PURCHASE OF ALUM FOR A POTABLE WATER TREATMENT PLANT OF 18 MGD CAPACITY 4.1.3 Liquid alum shall be of such clarity as to permit the reading of flow-measuring devices. Manufacturer shall use only bauxite ore (not bauxite clay) as the aluminous raw material source. Total Al2O3 - 8% Water insolubles - 0.02 maximum Total iron as Fe203 - 50 ppm PH - 1.7 - 2.1 Baume - 35.5 to 36.5 @ 60 f Material should comply with spec. B403-93 AWWA
