Work Detail
Request For Proposal For Study On The Integration And Use Of Digital Technology In Early Warning Systems In The 6 Countries Covered By Praps 2 (Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal And Chad) The Regional Support Project for Pastoralism in the Sahel, phase 2 (PRAPS-2) is implemented in six (6) Sahelian countries (Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Chad) and aims to strengthen the resilience of pastoralists and agro-pastoralists in certain targeted areas of the Sahel region. This initiative stemming from the Nouakchott Declaration (2013) constitutes a strong commitment by the Heads of State and Government of the six countries in favor of the development of pastoralism. The project is coordinated by the Permanent Interstate Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (CILSS) with financial support from the World Bank. It is structured around five (5) components, namely: i) Improvement of animal health and control of veterinary drugs; ii) Sustainable landscape management and improved governance; iii) Improving livestock value chains; iv) Improving social and economic inclusion, women and youth; and v) Project coordination, institutional strengthening, crisis prevention and response. These components include three to four sub-components including cross-cutting axes such as monitoring and evaluation, communication, institutional development, knowledge management, environmental safeguard or gender housed at the level of component 5 (project coordination) which also manages an accounting and procurement service. In all of its components, PRAPS 2 attaches great importance to national capacity building, including early warning systems. A resilience project par excellence, PRAPS 2 aims, through the actions of its components, to strengthen the capacities of national warning systems with regard to their role as disaster risk reduction tools.
