A floating wind array is yet to be built at >100MW scale. There is speculation about how the cables, moorings and platforms will be installed, but lack of clarity on how the different options will translate into an optimal installation methodology. There is a need to understand likely installation methods, and the benefits and drawbacks of different options, including quantitative cost and schedule estimates. The findings will help developers to inform their supply chain engagement, and project front end engineering design (FEED) scoping.
