Work Detail

Preparation of Training Modules on Disaster Risk Resilience & Implementation of Training Programs in Bozataw, Chimbay, Karauzyak, and Kegeyli districts of Karakalpakstan (Uzbekistan) (July 2022 December 2023) The Green Rehabilitation Investment Project for Karakalpakstan Republic to Address Impacts of the Aral Sea Crisis (Aral Sea GRIP) is executed under an Agreement between the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and is funded by both organisations. The total budget is 5.9M USD (5.6M KOICA, 0.3M GGGI). The project runs 36 months, from July 2021 to 30 June 2024. Aral Sea GRIP aims to assist the green rehabilitation of Karakalpakstan Republic by establishing viable measures to allow communities of the most disaster-afflicted districts to pursue disaster-resilient sustainable livelihoods through climate-resilient agri-business models, and by providing the policy, financing, and investment frameworks to allow these to be scaled up. For this, four project Outcomes aim to achieve the following objectives (of which Outcome 2 is central to this assignment): 1. Outcome 1: Establish an effective green rehabilitation investment plan targeted on agriculture and agri-businesses that reduces disaster risk, enhances rural food security and sustainable livelihoods, and promotes equitable employment in green and climate-smart value chains in Karakalpakstan. 2. Outcomes 2: Respond to the most urgent needs of the workforce and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to tackle pressing human security needs, focusing on disaster-related threats to health, livelihoods, productive assets, and agri-business risk management. 3. Outcomes 3: Demonstrate viable climate-resilient agri-business models to rebuild the economic foundation of Karakalpakstan s agrarian economy; and 4. Outcomes 4: Support the government and banks in mobilizing green/climate finance in support of green MSMEs development in Karakalpakstan. Under this project, four districts of Karakalpakstan are targeted for project implementation: Kegeyli, Bozataw, Chimbay, and Karauzyak. The project works with residents of the 4 selected districts involved in the production and processing of agricultural products (crop production, livestock, aquaculture, fishery, forestry, sericulture, apiculture, etc.). The project aims to benefit rural farmers, as well as rural and urban entrepreneurs, who have established or are willing to establish MSMEs for the production of agricultural products and its processing into value-added products. The project outcome is expressed in three components, of which the latter two are relevant to the assignment of this ToR:
