Assignment Description: The World Bank Social Protection Gp Is Assisting The Government Of Mauritania In The Development Of An Adaptive Social Protection System. As Part Of These Efforts, The World Bank Alongside World Food Program Has Supported Government In The Development A Tool For Forecasting Food Insecurity In Rural Areas. The Government And The World Bank Wish To Develop A Similar Model For Urban Areas And Increase Their Understanding Of The Factors Leading To Food Insecurity There. Unlike In Rural Areas, The Causal Link Between Climate Variability And Food Insecurity In Urban Areas Is Less Direct And Depends On Other Factors. The Correlation Between Levels Of Food Insecurity In Urban Areas And The Quality Of The Rainy Season Conditions Is, In Fact, Less Strong. The Objective Of This Research Is To Identify The Main Determinants And Drivers Of Food Insecurity In Urban Areas Of Mauritania Through Rigorous Quantitative Models. This Data And Information Will Be Used To Develop A Potential Urban Forecasting And Predictive Tool And Be Able To Better Assist Households In Urban Areas.
