Expression Of Interest Are Invited For Short Term Consultancy (Stc) The National Expert Epidemiologist Deadline: 31-May-2022 23:59 (Gmt 8.00) Beijing, Perth, Singapore, Hong Kong The Who Papua New Guinea (Png) Country Office (Wco) Is Supporting The Government Of Papua New Guinea To Build Back Better And Prepare For The Worst-Case Scenarios Towards Attaining Universal Health Coverage And Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (Sdgs). The Covid-19 Pandemic Has Realized The Potential Of Multi-Sectoral Approach To Achieving Sdg 3 Good Health And Well-Being And The Other Sdgs. To Build On This Experience And Leverage On These Partnerships To Achieve Keeping All People Of Png Safe Beyond 2020, And To Realize The Png Vision 2050; Disaster And Emergency Preparedness And Response Capacities Is Fundamental To Building The Health Sector Resilience. Improvement In The Health Sector In Png Is Foundational To Attaining Health For All. Under The Who Thematic Priority: Health Security, Including Antimicrobial Resistance; It Calls For Advancing Health Security Capacities To Keep The World Safe. The Wco Is Supporting Png To Assess, Prepare, Improve, And Respond To Health Emergencies. The Consultant Is Expected To Enhance The Capacity Of The Ndoh Public Health Division, Disease Control & Surveillance Branch In The Area Of Epidemiology, Field Epidemiology, Outbreak Preparedness And Response, And Health Emergency Information Management System. Purpose To Support The Public Health Division Of The National Department Of Health To Enhance The Emergency And Outbreak Preparedness And Response Capacities Within The Health Sector. The Fetp Convener And National Expert Epidemiologist Through Support To The Surveillance, Emergency & Response Is Responsible To Support The Field Epidemiology, Health Emergency Information Management, And Health Security Systems Strengthening. Further, To Strengthen Capacity For Public Health In Disaster Management And Diseases Outbreaks, Through The Development Of Relevant Public Health Strategies, Action Plans, And Information Systems. This Position Is Based At The National Control Centre (Ncc). Duration Start Date: June 2022 End Date: October 2022 Description Of Activities To Be Carried Out The National Expert Epidemiologist Will Provide Direct Technical Assistance And Support To The Public Health Division Of The Ndoh. The Specific Outputs Expected Under This Stc Are: Provide Technical Support To The Surveillance, Emergency & Response Unit In Enhancing Active Surveillance For Covid 19. Provide Technical Support To The Advanced Field Epidemiology Training Program. Provide Technical Support And Capacity Building Of Health Workers At National, Sub-National, And Local Level In The Areas Of Health Security And Outbreak Response Working Along With The Rapid Response Training. Lead/ Provide Technical Assistance To Enter Surveillance, Case Management And Lab Data Into The Integrated Disease Platforms And Improve Reporting From The 22 Provinces. Ensure That Data Is Triangulated, Analysed And Sitreps Are Drafted As Required By The Ncc Lead / Provide Ta For Monitoring The Epidemiological Curve, Plan For Future Surge And Design Early Warning Systems, Risk Analysis For Outbreaks At The Provincial Level. Work With The Data Modelling Team, Harmonize The Present Epidemiological Intelligence And Improve The Outputs As Per Request By The Ncc /Ims. Advanced Engagement Of Multi-Sectoral Stakeholders To Accelerate Implementation Of Core International Health Regulations (2005) Capacities In Png. Provide Technical Leadership To Strategically Execute The Asia Pacific Strategy For Emerging Diseases And Public Health Emergencies (Apsed) Iii In Png. Provide Technical Advice And Support, Guidance And Mentorship To Establish The National Health Security Committee For Png As Well As The Surveillance Pillar At The Ncc. Work Alongside Short Term Goarn Deployees And Ensure Specific Handovers And Orientations Are Delivered Upon Their Deployments. Perform Any Other Relevant Duties As Required.
