Deadline: 14-Apr-22 Posted: 29-Mar-22 Overview: As Part Of The Coyah-Forécariah Road Rehabilitation Project, Undp Received Funding From The African Development Bank To Carry Out The Sub-Component Relating To "Multifunctional Platforms (Ptfm) And Empowerment Of Women In The Prefectures Of Coyah And Forécariah" . This Sub-Component Falls Within The Framework Of Taking Into Account Gender Issues In The Road Infrastructure Project Which Will Cover These 2 Areas. The Prefectures Of Coyah And Forécariah Concerned By The Road Rehabilitation Project Are Part Of The Six Lower Guinea With A Population Of 416,803 Inhabitants Including 263,192 Women (Rgph3, 2014). This Zone Covers Fourteen (14) Communes Which Are: Forécariah Center, Benty, Kaback, Farmoréah, Kakossa, Maférinyah, Moussayah, Sikhourou, Allassoyah, Kalia, Coyah Center, Manéah, Kouria And Wonkifong. The Economic Activities Practiced There Are Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing, Hunting And Trade. These Two Prefectures Also Have Plains And Mangroves Conducive To The Development Of Rice Cultivation And Market Gardening. Women Are Very Active In Market Gardening, Palm Oil Extraction And The Marketing Of Agricultural Products. However, Climatic Hazards Combined With Significant Human Pressure With The Degradation Of Soil And Water Resources Due To Housing Development Contribute To Weakening The Foundations Of Community Development. In The Rural Context Characterized By Poverty, The Impact Of The Ebola Virus Disease And The Socio-Economic Exclusion Of Women, Undp With Funding From The African Development Bank Has Initiated A Project To Install Multifunctional Platforms Around Which A Package Of Integrated Services Will Be Developed Aimed At Empowering Women. Women, Gender Equity And Poverty Reduction, With The Specific Objectives Of I) Facilitating Access To Energy Services In Rural Areas And Alleviating The Domestic Workload Of Women; Ii) Promote The Diversification Of Economic And Income-Generating Activities For Women In Production, Processing And Marketing In The Value Chain Of Promising Agricultural Sectors, Improving Their Economic Power As Well As Their Social Status; Iii) Building Capacity Managerial And Entrepreneurial Skills Of Women In The Two Areas For Better Participation In The Local Economy Through The Operation Of Multifunctional Platforms And Income-Generating Activities; And (Iv) Build The Adaptive And Resilient Capacities Of The Populations Of The Coyah And Forécariah Prefectures By Strengthening The Role Of Women In Prevention, Risk Management Related To Epidemic-Prone Diseases And Road Safety. In This Context, The Undp Plans To Recruit An Ngo Monitor To Support Local Craftsmen And Groups Of Women Instructors In Making Improved Stoves For The Production And Large-Scale Distribution Of Improved Stoves In The Villages Bordering The Axis Of The Coyah Forécariah Road. This Activity Will Ensure Wide Dissemination In Households In The Municipalities Of Coyah And Forécariah And Contribute To The Protection And Sustainable Management Of The Environment, In Particular The Reduction Of The Cutting Of Firewood.
