Expression Of Interest Are Invited For Environmental And Social (E&S) Scoping And Tuna Supply And Sustainability Review Consultant For Bina Harbor Project In Solomon Islands. Solomon Islands Has A Valuable Tuna Resource, Accounting For Around 7 Percent Of The Total Western And Central Pacific Ocean (Wcpo) Catch, The Largest Tuna Resource Globally. Solomon Islands Relies On Tuna For Revenue From The Sale Of Access Rights, Food Security And Exports. There Is One Local Processing Operation At Noro In The North Of The Country, But The Bulk Of The Catch Is Taken By Foreign Fishing Vessels Under Licensing Agreements And Processed Elsewhere. The Ministry Of Fishery And Marine Resources (Mfmr) Has Developed An Onshore Tuna Processing Public Private Partnership (Ppp) Concept That Involves Competitive Allocation Of Solomon Islands Tuna Fishing Rights To An Investor That Commits To Process The Catch Taken Onshore, At A Processing Plant The Investor Will Construct And Operate At Bina Harbor, Malaita. Mfmr Is Engaging The Transaction Advisory Services Of International Finance Corporation (Ifc) To Design This Ppp (The Project). In This Context, Ifc Is Seeking The Services Of An Environment & Social (E&S) Firm That Will Assist Ifc With (A) E&S Scoping Study Associated For Tuna Processing Plant And (B) Tuna Supply And Sustainability Review. E&S Scoping Study Will Include Review Of Existing E&S Documents, Site Visits For Identification Of Key E&S Risks And Mitigations, Determination Of Applicable Ifc E&S Performance Standards (Pss), Stakeholder Analysis, Brief Gap Analysis Of E&S National Regulation With Ifc Pss And Associated Costs And Preparing Tors For Additional E&S Studies. Tuna Supply Sustainability Assessment Will Be Undertaken To Determine If The Proposed Harvesting Of Tuna Due To The Project Will Be Within Sustainable Limits, I.E., The Project Will Not Lead, Or Contribute, To Exploiting The Resource.
