Work Detail
CIMR-ITT 06 - S/C EGSE The Copernicus program is an evolution of the previous Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) Program, an Earth monitoring initiative led by the European Union (EU) and carried out in partnership with the EU Member States and the European Space Agency (ESA) established to fulfil the growing need amongst European policy-makers to access accurate and timely information services to better manage the environment, understand and mitigate the effects of climate change and ensure civil security. While the deployment of the first generation of Sentinels is approaching its completion, the intense use and increased awareness for the potential of Copernicus have generated great expectations for an evolved Copernicus system (“CSC Expansion”). Emerging and urgent needs for new types of observations have been consolidated in a distinct set of requirements which are addressed by six new Copernicus Sentinel missions, formerly known as “High Priority Candidate Missions” (HPCM), one of which CIMR Mission. In this framework, Thales Alenia Space Italia will release an Invitation To Tender for the procurement of Spacecraft EGSE: one Battery Simulator and Battery Conditioning Equipment (BatSim/BCE) SCOE , one Solar Array Simulator (SAS) SCOE, one Pyro NEA and 1553 SCOE and one TT&C SCOE for the CIMR satellites. The Solar Array SCOE simulates the SAW behavior and all its electrical interfaces. It can be used for simulating SUN or ECLIPSE conditions and the transitions between them. The Battery Simulation and Battery Conditioning Equipment SCOE supports S/C testing by simulating the flight battery or by interfacing it for nominal charging and discharging operations. The Pyro NEA and 1553 SCOE is a multi-purpose equipment. It simulates the loads of separation units and thrusters and detects the command sequences that the OBC provides to these interfaces. In addition the SCOE is equipped with a 1553 FEE that analyzes the BUS traffic and that can be used as Remote Terminal simulator. The TT&C SCOE is the RF interface and testing equipment of the TT&C Subsystem. It can be used for both performance testing purposes on the TT&C signal and for routing TMs an TCs to/from the TMTC FEE via RF Link. It includes a Modem for modulating and demodulating TT&C signals and provides SLE functionalities as well as a direct IF interface for supporting the SVT testing phase . The procurement of the EGSE will be conducted in line with the “ESA Best Practices for the Selection of Subcontractors by Prime Contractors in the frame of ESA’s Major Procurements” (reference ESA BEST PRACTICES IPC(2012)65,rev.2), as modified for the purposed of Copernicus Program.
