Contract notice: Multi-Model Analysis Exercise on the Transformation of the Energy System Short Description: The general objective of the project is to perform a multi-model analysis of the evolution of EU energy system in the period 2030-2050, studying specifically at the required transformations in terms of energy demand and supply to 2040 on the path toward the 2050 economy-wide carbon neutrality objective. The project will: 1. harmonise the assumptions retained in the different energy system models allowing for comparability; 2. design and implement a modelling protocol to evaluate the required transformations in the different segments of the EU energy system (demand, supply, transformation); and 3. deliver a quantitative multi-model analysis and detailed reporting of models outputs. The project will complement and strengthen DG CLIMA's modelling capacity and support the assessment of the 2040 intermediate climate target to be proposed in the first half of 2024 as per the European Climate Law.
