Tenders Are Invited For N70 Road Projects - Ground Investigation Contract

The purpose of this Contract is to carry out ground investigation works to provide geotechnical information for the design of the N70 Road Projects (N70 Milltown Bypass, N70 Glanbehy Bridge, N70 Creamery Cross). The aims of the ground investigation work under this Contract are to: • Investigate the nature of the geological strata, both overburden and rock, • Identify the presence and extent of soft/made ground, • Detect the presence of any irregularities in the geological structure that may affect the proposed construction work, • Determine the presence or not of rock and its quality and profile, • Determine presence/extent of vulnerable rock formations, • Determine the engineering properties of the overburden and rock, • Determine the method of excavation for the removal of overburden and rock, • Evaluate the strength at the formation level of the proposed works, • Asses the road make-up of the existing roads within the proposed scheme, • Confirm the location of services included on the service locations plans in the background information pack by non-instrusive and intrusive means, • Investigate the nature of the existing road pavement and road foundation, • Evaluate the strength at the formation level of the proposed works, • Determine contaminants (if any) present in material to be excavated in the course of the future construction works, and • Produce a Ground Investigation Factual Report.
