In Lao Pdr, Ministry Of Health (Moh) Has Included Suspected Dengue, Measles And Rubella Cases Under The 17 Notifiable Diseases Reported Under The National Surveillance System For Notifiable Selected Disease (Nssnsd). Dengue Virus Can Cause A Wide Spectrum Of Diseases, Making Clinical Diagnosis Without Laboratory Information Difficult. The Country Has Taken Great Strides In Eliminating Measles And Rubella. Improving Identification Of Suspected Cases Will Greatly Aid In Understanding The Disease Trend In The Country. The Country Has Also Harmonized Influenza-Like-Illness (Ili) And Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (Sari) Surveillance And The Detection And Reporting Of Covid-19 To Strengthen Monitoring Of Influenza Subtypes Among Sentinel Sites. Continuous Support And Monitoring Of Sites Are Important To Ensure Surveillance Activities Are Carried Out Properly. Although Substantial Progress Has Been Made, There Continues To Be Gaps In Capacities For Lao Pdr To Anticipate, Prevent And Respond To Infectious Disease Threats. Purpose/Specific Objective Of The Activity The Consultant Will Be Based At The National Centre For Laboratory And Epidemiology (Ncle), Vientiane, Lao Pdr And Provide Technical Assistance In Supporting Virological Surveillance And Strengthen Serology Testing Capacity Of Ncle.
