Expression of Interest are invited for Consultant Pacific Infection Prevention Control Ipc Deadline 22 Jun 2021 23 59 GMT 8 00 Beijing Perth Singapore Hong KongIn response to the threat of COVID 19 introduction in the Pacific a WHO Pacific Action Plan for Novel Coronavirus COVID 19 Preparedness and Response was developed to document and guide priority actions for WHO support to Pacific Island countries and areas PICs for COVID 19 preparedness and response Under the WHO Division of Pacific Technical Support an Incident Management Team IMT has been activated to support the rapid implementation of the Pacific Action Plan Working remotely Pacific hours or in a designated Pacific Country Area this position will support COVID 19 preparedness and response working closely with WHO Pacific country offices Ministries of Health and Pacific Joint Incident Management Team JIMT partners with a focus on strengthening IPC capacity across the Pacific PURPOSE SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE OF THE ACTIVITYUnder the Pacific Incident Management System IMS the incumbent will support Pacific Island countries and areas PICs to assess and strengthen their capacity in the infection prevention and control IPC for COVID 19 response particularly in health care settings as well as other high risk facilities The incumbent will further support the contextualization of WHO global guidelines supporting and strengthening the implementation of relevant existing IPC guidelines and standard operating procedures and assist develop and facilitate training METHODS TO CARRY OUT THE ACTIVITYOutput s According to country needs requests review IPC measures capabilities and SOPs and advise on infection prevention and control in healthcare and other high priority settings Assess national and sub national IPC training and technical support needs develop training plans and deliver IPC trainings Support PICs in conducting table top simulation exercises to review test strengthen IPC capacities Support the adaptation of existing global and regional IPC case management guidance documents to meet country context and language needs Regularly report to the WHO DPS incident management team on assessments quality improvement plans trainings and other IPC activities documenting training details accomplishments results and further recommendations Perform any other incident specific related duties as required by the functional supervisor QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCEEDUCATION First level university degree in nursing medicine microbiology or similar with training in infection prevention control from an accredited recognized university Master s level degree in health sciences public health or a related field with specialization in IPC Formal training in adult learning education EXPERIENCEEssential At least five years of experience in developing implementing and evaluating IPC policies procedures tools and training in low resource settings and or in health emergencies Related experience in managing resources and working effectively in a multi stakeholder international environment including developing and promoting collaborative actions with national authorities Desirable Prior working experience on IPC and management acute severe respiratory syndromes related to SARS or MERS CoV Prior working experience with WHO UN or with an international non governmental organization TECHNICAL SKILLS KNOWLEDGE Proven skills in training of healthcare workers in low resource settings particularly in outbreaks emergencies Proven skills in case management of patients needing critical care including isolation and IPC principles in low resource settings Ability to work rapidly and efficiently in fast paced complex environments Excellent interpersonal skills complemented by the ability to conceptualize ideas and advocate consensus Excellent presentation and facilitation skills Ability to think out of the box and to adapt to a wide range of settings
