Billion During The Period The Population Of Sub Saharan Africa Is Expected To Double By 2050 With A 99 Increase These Demographic Prospects In Africa Underscore The Current Weight Of African Youth And Its Importance In The Next 30 Years This Youth Currently Faces Multiple Challenges Including Poverty Unemployment Estimated At 60 Lack Of Opportunities As Well As Weak Skills And Political Inclusion However Opportunities Exist And Should Be Seized By Young People To Change Their Destiny For Africa The Youth Of Its Population Is A Demographic Potential Serving Its Aspirations For Development And Economic Transformation Young People Should Be Able To Seize The Opportunities Offered By Africas Economic Transformation The Development Of Communication Technologies And The Willingness Of Politics To Make Things Happen To Meet These Challenges The Youthconneckt Program Has Been Designed And Is Being Implemented In Some Countries Including Rwanda Drc Congo Liberia Thus Youthconnekt Is A Pan African Initiative That Started In Rwanda In 2012 It Aims To Stimulate The African Youth For Its Development And Its Effective Contribution To The Transformation Of The Continent So That Africa Becomes A Place Where Everyone Realizes His Dream The Initiative Aims To Create Jobs And Opportunities For Young People To Develop Leaders Who Contribute To Social Transformation And Serve As Role Models In Their Communities To Develop Sustainable Initiatives And Policies That Reduce Gender Inequalities To Use Digital Technology To Facilitate The Transfer Of Skills To Local Communities Youthconneckt Aims To Bridge The Gap Between Youth And Existing Opportunities In Their Community By Linking The People Concerned With Each Other With Models And Economic Opportunities It Integrates A Virtual Platform That Connects Young People With Important Actors From The Public And Private Sectors To Forge Partnerships To Offer Employment And Entrepreneurship Opportunities Internships Courses Mentoring Job Market Incubators Etc Youthconnekt Africa Aims For 2020 Results In The Following Areas Employment In Entrepreneurship Creation Of 10 Million Jobs Education Creation Of 25 Million Opportunities Through Work Placements Civic Participation And Leadership Training One Million Leaders Who Contribute To Social Transformation And Serve As Role Models In Their Communities Gender Development Of Sustainable Initiatives And Policies That Reduce Gender Inequalities Technology And Innovation Connection Of Educational Institutions Use Of Digital To Facilitate The Transfer Of Skills To Local Communities And Stimulation Of The Creation Of Hubs Specific ContextThe Population Of Togo Was Estimated In 2017 At 7 8 Million Inhabitants Of Which 50 15 Of Women In 2017 With An Average Annual Growth Rate Of 2 84 It Should Reach 10 5 Million In 2030 This Population Is Mostly Young With 46 8 Under 18 40 Under 15 And A Median Age Of 19 Years The Analysis Of The Demographic Prospects Of Togo 2011 2031 Shows That In 2031 The Under 20S Will Constitute 45 1 Of The Total Population Also Young People Of Working Age Between The Ages Of 15 And 35 Make Up 33 Of The Population And It Is Estimated That Within 20 Years This Proportion Will Reach 40 These Young People Face Many Challenges Indeed Although The Unemployment Rate Decreased From 6 5 In 2011 To 3 4 In 2015 The Rate Of Underemployment Increased In The Same Period From 22 8 To 24 8 Young People And Women Are Very Affected By The Double Phenomenon Of Unemployment And Underemployment Their Unemployment And Underemployment Rates Remain High At 8 1 And 20 5 Respectively According To The Pnd This Important Youth For Lack Of Decent Jobs Is Exposed To Social Evils Such As Banditry Prostitution Delinquency Alcoholism Etc Togo Is Also Experiencing Migratory Movements That Are Reflected In Particular By A Rural Exodus Especially To The Capital Lome And An Old And Significant International Migration In Fact The Urban Population Knows An Average Increase Of 27 47 Per Year Which Has Tripled From 1960 To 2016 From 10 To 40 The Capital Lome Is The Main Destination Of These Movements Especially Young People Mainly Because Of The Lack Of Economic Opportunities In Their Localities In Order To Meet These Challenges The National Development Plan Pnd 2018 2022 Plans To Structurally Transform The Economy For A Strong Sustainable Resilient Inclusive Growth Creating Decent Jobs And Leading To Improved Well Being Social Thus It Aims To Create 100 000 Direct Jobs Each Year In Addition It Has Been In Place For Some Years Institutional Mechanisms Of Support For Young People That Are The National Coalition For Youth Employment The National Agency Of Volunteering In Togo Anvt The National Agency For Employment Anpe The Support Fund For Youth Economic Initiatives Faiej The National Fund For Inclusive Finance Fnfi And The National Agency For Development At The Base Anadeb Likewise Several Projects And Programs To Promote Youth Entrepreneurship And Improve Employability Are Being Implemented Including The National Program For The Promotion Of Rural Entrepreneurship Pnper The National Volunteer Program In Togo Provonat The Program For Vocational Training And Youth Employment Profopej Other Initiatives Such As The Establishment Of The National Youth Council Aim To Ensure The Effective Participation Of Young People In Decision Making And Development Processes In Togo Togo Participated In The Youthconnekt Africa Summit Of 2018 In Kigali From 8 To 10 October Following This The Government Made The Decision To Develop And Implement The Youthconnekt Program In Togo In Order To Take Advantage Of The Establishment Of A Youth Platform And To Put Them In Contact With Different Actors To Strengthen To Sustain And Scale Up The Results Of Initiatives Already Under Way Youthconnekt Togo Will Also Build On The Goals Of Youth Policy Being Finalized This Initiative Should Be The Framework For Federating The Interventions Of Public And Private Actors Civil Society And Technical And Financial Partners For The Development Of Togolese Youth The Present Terms Of Reference Relate
