United States Of America And Works To Conserve Nature Wcs Implements Field Programs In Several African Countries Including The Democratic Republic Of The Congo Drc Where It Works In Various National Parks And Reserves With The Congolese Institute For Nature Conservation Iccn And Other Partners The Okapi Wildlife Reserve Is Historically And Financially The Most Important Site Of The Wcs Drc Program The Okapi Wildlife Reserve Rfo Has Been Listed Since 1996 As A Unesco World Heritage Site It Is Located In The Provinces Of Ituri And Haut Uele In The North East Of The Drc The Reserve Hosts A Worldwide And Regional Well Recognized Fauna Including Elephants Chimpanzees And Okapis For The Past Ten Years The Rfo Has Faced Several Pressures And Threats From Different Sources Being Armed Poaching Illegal Exploitation Of Mineral Resources Overexploitation Of Partially Protected Species Etc The Wildlife Surveys Conducted During The Same Period Indicated A Significant Decline Of The Reserves Flagship Species Given The Biological Importance Of The Okapi Wildlife Reserve And The Nature Of The Threats It Faces Wcs And Iccn Have Entered Into A Partnership Agreement Signed In December 2018 For The Co Management And The Funding Of The Okapi Wildlife Reserve Under This Agreement Which Aims At Defining The Management And Financing Mechanisms For The Rfo Wcs Is Mandated To Ensure The Development Of The Administrative Finance And Operations Procedures Therefore Wcs Will Entrust To One Or More Groups Of Consultant S The Drafting Of A Manual Of Administrative Financial Accounting And Operational Procedures That Will Govern Management At The Level Of The Rfo Applying To Both Iccn And Wcs Employees And Users Without Distinction By Institutional Affiliation I Objective Of The
