Ensuring That Every Child Is Healthy And Can Learn The Initiative Will Also Engage With The Maternal And Child Health National Programme Including Through High Level Policy Advocacy To Intensify Efforts On The Prevention Of Malnutrition In All Its Forms And The Adoption Of A Life Cycle Approach Across Four Key Stages Early Childhood 0 5 Years School Years 6 12 Years Adolescence 10 19 Years Maternal Nutrition 1 000 Days This Consultancy Will Ensure Continuity Of Programme Support For Good Nutrition And Related Practices And Overall Health Outcomes In Vulnerable Children Mics4 2011 And Mics5 2015 Surveys Provide The Best Current And Trend Data On Childhood Nutrition And Wellbeing In Belize Combined With The Fact That 7 3 Of Children Under Age Five Are Overweight Above The Lac Region Average Of 7 Data Show That Belize Is Facing A Double Burden Of Nutrition Crises Despite A Moderate Decrease In Stunting Prevalence In Children Under 5 Years From 19 3 In 2011 To 15 In 2015 Belize Still Stands In The Group Of The 8 Lac Countries With Highest Stunting Prevalence In The Toledo District One In Every Three Children U5 Is Stunted Also Overweight And Obesity Have Been Increasing In Recent Years Belize District And Belize City Southside Have The Highest Percentage Of Overweight Children Under 5 11 And 9 Respectively In 2015 And 14 5 Of Children Under 5 In Garifuna Headed Households Are Overweight A 2011 Cdc School Health Survey Found That Among Adolescents Aged 13 15 Years In Belize 36 Are Overweight And 13 Are Obese Exclusive Breastfeeding Under 6 Months Was Very Low In 2011 14 7 But Increased To 33 In 2015 Reaching The Lac Region Average 32 In 2015 In Parallel With Increased Ministry Of Health Moh Investment In Nutrition Counselling At Community And Facility Levels Overall Three Out Of Four Infants Age 6 8 Months Received Solid Semi Solid Or Soft Foods At Least Once During The Previous Day And Only 66 Of All Children Age 6 23 Month Received Minimum Dietary Diversity For Children 6 23 Months Who Were Still Breastfeeding 57 Received Minimum Dietary Diversity This Consultancy Aims To Tackle The Dangerous Rise In Overweight And Obesity In Vulnerable
