Work Detail
Tenders are invited for Research Competition: Improving the Quality, Productivity, And Climate Resilience of the Palestinian Olive Oil Sector Service Location: Ramallah This Call for Research Proposals sets out the scope, eligibility criteria, evaluation process, and expected deliverables for Palestinian researchers and institutions wishing to carry out applied research on the olive sector under the project. The project aims to contribute to a green and just transition in the Palestinian olive oil sector through private sector-led, sustainable, and inclusive economic growth. By addressing environmental, economic, and social challenges, it seeks to improve livelihoods for small-scale producers while promoting sustainable practices and market integration. Project Background The "Enhancing the Green Gold of Palestinian Economy" project is a 36-month project funded by the through the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DMFA), aiming to contribute to a sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient olive oil sector in Palestine. The project is implemented by a consortium of partners: Oxfam (Administrative Partner), providing governance, compliance, and project management expertise; Al-Reef for Investment and Agricultural Marketing (Key Commercial Partner), focusing on the production of high-quality organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) for export to European markets, particularly Denmark and France; ESDC (Non-Commercial Partner), supporting cooperative capacity-building and climate-resilient farming; and European partners Truely (Denmark) and Ekitopi (France), facilitating access to high-value export markets and in coordination with the Palestinian ministry of Agriculture (MOA). Research funded through this call is expected to generate evidence that directly supports one or more of these four areas, with a particular focus on the quality, productivity, and climate resilience of olive cultivation and processing. Purpose of the Call This competition invites applied, field-relevant scientific research proposals that generate practical, evidence-based recommendations for the Palestinian olive sector. Proposals are open across all aspects of olive cultivation, processing, and value addition, provided they align with one or more of the following core pillars: improving olive and olive oil quality, increasing productivity and yield stability, strengthening the sectors resilience to climate stress. Priority will be given to rigorous research designs featuring measurable impact, generalizable results, and intervention-versus-control methodologies over descriptive surveys alone. Eligible projects must also be capable of delivering actionable recommendations for farmers, cooperatives, and mills within the project lifecycle. Required Deliverables Regardless of the specific research topic proposed, all funded researchers are expected to produce the following deliverables over the course of the assignment: Inception Report: a finalized methodology, experimental or sampling design, data-collection tools, and a detailed work plan and timeline, submitted within an agreed period after signing of the research agreement. Baseline Dataset: baseline data collected prior to any treatment or intervention (e.g. soil/leaf analysis, orchard characteristics, initial productivity or quality indicators, as relevant to the proposed topic), submitted in the agreed format together with the raw data. Season / Interim Report(s): for research that spans more than one field season or data-collection cycle, a report presenting the results, data collected, and any emerging findings for each season, including any deviations from the original methodology and the reasons for them. Final Study Report: a complete report presenting the full results, the statistical analysis, an assessment of cost and economic return where relevant, and clear, practical recommendations addressed to farmers, cooperatives, mills, and the project team. Raw Data and Analysis Files: the complete dataset, laboratory results, and any statistical or calculation files underlying the final report, submitted in an open, reusable format (e.g. Excel/CSV) alongside the final report. Dissemination Summary: a short, extension-ready summary (24 pages, in Arabic and English) translating the studys findings and recommendations into practical guidance that can be shared with farmers, cooperatives, and mills. Scientific Publication: submission of the research findings, as a full manuscript, to a peer-reviewed international scientific journal relevant to the studys discipline (e.g. horticulture, plant nutrition, food science, or agricultural economics). The manuscript must be submitted no later than the end of the assignment period, and the researcher must provide Oxfam with the submission confirmation (and, subsequently, any editorial decision, acceptance letter, or DOI once available) as evidence of submission and, where applicable, publication. Oxfam and the DGBP project must be acknowledged as the funding source and co-author in the manuscript, in line with the journals standard funding-acknowledgement requirements. Given the importance of this deliverable, applicants should indicate in their technical proposal Submission Process Interested researchers and institutions should submit technical and financial proposals by email to with the subject line: The deadline for submitting proposals to Oxfam is Tender Link : https://www.jobs.ps/en/tenders/26-096-opt-jrm-16661.html
