Work Detail
Tenders are invited for Layout and Translation of the Guide "Welcoming Women Victims of Sexual Violence in Library Spaces". Closing Date: 5 Nov 2026 Type: Consultancy 1. Context Libraries Without Borders (BSF) is an international NGO created in 2007. It provides access to education, information and culture in crisis situations, through mobile tools (Ideas Box, Ideas Cube) and training for field workers. As part of the "Women and Girls" component funded by the LOréal Fund for Women and Girls (LOréal Project 221), BSF is developing an internal guide for facilitators of the Ideas Boxes in Tshopo and Tanganyika: "The Ideas Box for Welcoming Women Victims of Sexual Violence ." This unique guide complements guides #01 and #02 of the Ideas Box 4 Women (IDB4W) kit. It provides guidance on how to receive a disclosure, refer women to appropriate services, and provide care. 2. Subject matter and allocation The writing is being handled by BSF. The consultancy covers the layout of the guide in French and Swahili, and its translation into Swahili. The two lots can be awarded separately or together. The award of lot B remains contingent upon the quality of the bids received. Lot and indicative ceiling ( including VAT) Lot A. Layout 2,200 Guide of approximately 80 to 90 A5 pages, in French and then in Swahili, in the IDB4W style; detachable quick reference sheet Integrate the French text into the IDB4W templates, using their sections (key concepts, "never do this", activities, glossary). Create some specific visuals: diagram of the referencing circuit, pictograms, 3 to 5 illustrations at most. Design a double-sided, detachable and printable quick reference sheet (A5 or A4 format). Decline the Swahili version once the French version has been validated. Lot B. Swahili translation 2,300 Translation of the guide (approximately 13,000 to 14,000 words), independent review by a second linguist, and gender-sensitive review Translate the guide into Swahili accessible to facilitators in Tshopo and Tanganyika. Review the glossary of Swahili translations from the IDB4W guides to ensure consistency of terms. Have the translation reviewed by a second independent linguist, preferably familiar with gender-based violence, and incorporate their corrections. Reread with a survivor-centered approach: non-stigmatizing vocabulary, accurate legal and medical terms. Review the Swahili BAT for lot A. Total 4,500 3. Resources provided and specifications BSF provides the validated French text, templates and charter for the IDB4W guides, the RDC visuals produced for the IDB4W guides and the IDB4W Swahili glossary. Format : A5 portrait, four-color printing on both sides, spiral binding (Wire-O), consistent with IDB4W guidelines.
