Through Its Regulatory Letter, The National Board Of Health And Welfare Is Tasked With Representing Sweden In The Eu Joint Steering Group For Coordinated Procurement Within The Framework Of The Joint Procurement Agreement (Jpa). The Assignment Includes Calls That Are Linked To The Authoritys Responsibility To Ensure The Supply Of Medicines And Other Healthcare Products In The Face Of Heightened Preparedness And To Maintain Emergency Medical Preparedness. In Addition, The Assignment Includes The Purchase Of Medicines Through The So-Called Voluntary Solidarity Mechanism (Vsm) In The Eu In Situations Where Ordinary Supply Channels Cannot Meet The National Needs. The Unit For Supply Preparedness At The National Board Of Health And Welfare Develops The Supply Preparedness Of Health And Medical Care And Care At A Strategic Level, But Also The Operational Part Of Supply Preparedness, For Example By Building Up And Managing Preparedness Stocks. In Addition To This, The Unit Plans How Material, Equipment And Medicines Can Be Delivered When Needed - Both Within Sweden And Internationally. In Order To Be Able To Fulfill These Tasks, The Authority Intends To Procure A Distribution Agreement With A Certain Amount Of Stock. If A Purchase Via Various Eu Mechanisms Should Be Initiated By The Authority, The Supplier Must Be Ready To Receive The Delivery, Store And Distribute To The Customers (For Example, Regions Or Pharmacies) Specified By The Authority. Storage Time And Distribution Period May Vary Depending On The Context.
