Work Detail
Expression of Interest for Follow-up surveys for Impact Evaluation of Shuga TV Drama - Nigeria These Terms of Reference (ToR) are for the recruitment of a survey firm (hereinafter Firm) to work with a research team in DEC Development Impact (DECDI) of the World Bank (hereinafter WB Team) to conduct data collection for an Impact Evaluation Research Project. This research project assesses the long-term impact of MTV Shuga, a behavior change TV drama on HIV prevention, sexual and reproductive health, and violence against women, on young people in South-West Nigeria. The original randomized evaluation screened MTV Shuga or a placebo film in 80 locations across Oyo, Osun and Ondo states and surveyed 7,681 respondents (5,166 main study participants and 2,515 of their friends). The respondents are now in their early thirties, and this 11-year follow-up will measure whether the dramas effects have lasted into adulthood. The Firm will be responsible for undertaking two primary data collection activities: Data Collection Activity 1 Recontact and database update. The Firm will attempt to recontact all 7,681 baseline respondents and update the respondent database with their current phone numbers and addresses. Recontact will be attempted first by phone, using the respondent, family and friend numbers provided by the WB Team. Where phone contact fails, the Firm will search online, mainly through WhatsApp, and then in person at the last known address, with help from community leaders, family and neighbors. Because respondents have moved since baseline, the Firm must be prepared to trace them in any of Nigerias 36 states and the FCT. The recontact rate is the primary measure of the Firms performance. A recent recontact pilot surveyed 61% of the sample, and the Firm should make every effort to reach all respondents. Data Collection Activity 2 11-year follow-up survey. The Firm will administer a full follow-up survey in person, to every recontacted respondent, wherever they now live in Nigeria. Where an in-person interview is not feasible, for example for respondents who now live abroad, the Firm will administer a reduced phone survey on key outcomes as a backup. The Firm will program all instruments in SurveyCTO, and tracking and the survey will run in parallel. Contract start date: November 2026, or immediately after contract signing. End date: February 2027. Tender Link : https://wbgeprocure-rfxnow.worldbank.org/rfxnow/public/advertisement/7406/view.html
