Work Detail
Tenders are invited for Construction Work for Honey Processing and Packaging Units (Honey Processing Facility) in Chad. Closing Date: 31 Oct 2026 Type: Consultancy Simply take action. In Switzerland and in nearly 20 countries across four continents. Join us in realizing the vision of a more inclusive society, within the framework of the Construction work on honey processing and packaging units (honey house) in the provinces of Moyen Chari, Mandoul and Logone Oriental. Please note that this is an abridged version of the International Open Tender Dossier (IOTD). The full IOTD, including the project context and rationale, objective, and application submission procedures, is available at the following link: IOTD . The complete "Graphic Documents Plan" is available at the following link: here In Chad in general, and in the intervention zone of the project to support the development of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) in particular, post-harvest honey processing conditions are inadequate for marketing high-quality honey compared to imported honey. This situation stems not only from a lack of suitable equipment but also from the poor condition of honey production, processing, packaging, and marketing infrastructure, thus limiting access to profitable markets for a high-quality product. These shortcomings lead to post-harvest losses and the underutilization of hive products, particularly beeswax, royal jelly, and propolis, thereby hindering the development of the honey value chain. Furthermore, the absence of research and extension infrastructure for beekeeping prevents the development of modern and sustainable beekeeping practices. Beekeepers rarely have modern equipment for harvesting and managing hives, as well as for raising bees, sometimes favoring traditional methods. Honey products and their derivatives are often misunderstood or undervalued due to a lack of knowledge and modern practices. As a result, the sector struggles to develop and compete with imported honey in local markets. These various observations led beekeeping stakeholders in the provinces of Moyen Chari, Mandoul, and Logone Oriental to request support from the PFNL project to acquire the necessary infrastructure and equipment to enable beekeepers to fully benefit from this value chain. In response to this request, several provincial consultations were held, involving representatives of beekeepers, honey traders/sellers, representatives of traditional chieftaincies and local officials, as well as provincial delegates from the Ministry of the Environment. These consultations resulted in the selection of two locations: Bodo in Logone Oriental province and Bédaya in Mandoul province, and the existing honey processing and packaging facility in Koumogo in Moyen Chari province. Based on the above, CARITAS Switzerland, through the PFNL project, a project of the Swiss Cooperation (SDC) implemented by the NIRAS-Caritas Switzerland Consortium , is seeking to recruit one or more qualified companies in civil engineering and building work, in particular for the construction of honey processing and packaging infrastructure (honey houses). How to apply This Invitation to Tender is addressed to all companies operating in the departments and provinces of intervention of the PFNL project and of Chadian origin, capable of carrying out the works described above. Please send your complete application in digital format only (PDF) to the Country Director of Caritas Switzerland at the email address [email protected] with the subject line: "Construction of honey houses" no later than October 31, 2026 at 4 p.m. sharp.
