Laboratory, Optical And Precision Equipments (Excl. Glasses) – A Sputtering System Dedicated To The Deposition Of High Quality Superconducting Thin Films. Epfl, In Collaboration With The University Of Geneva (Unige), Plans To Acquire A New Cathode Sputtering System Dedicated To The Deposition Of High-Quality Superconducting Thin Films. The Equipment Will Be Hosted By The Epfl Micronanotechnology Center (Cmi). The Cmi Is A Centralized Installation Dedicated To Micro/Nano Manufacturing, Central For All Epfl Faculties, Open To External Universities As Well As Local Industrialists (>600 Active Users Per Year). The New Equipment Will Be Dedicated To Cutting-Edge Research In The Field Of Single Photon Detectors With The Objective Of Bridging The Gap Between Manufacturing On A Laboratory Scale And That On An Industrial Scale By Allowing Deposition On Plates With A Diameter Of 200 Mm. Great Importance Will Be Given Not Only To The Quality Of The Depositions And The Superconducting Properties Of The Thin Films, But Also To The Ease Of Use Of The Equipment, Their Simplicity/Speed Of Learning For New Users And Their Flexible, But Nevertheless Robust, Ability To Control Deposition Processes In A Typical R&D Environment. Great Interest Will Also Be Paid To The Proximity And Responsiveness Of The Supplier For All Technical And Process Support. In Line With The Needs Of Epfl And The Scientific Objectives Of Cmi And Unige, Particular Attention Will Be Placed On The Following Points: ● Quality, Reproducibility And Uniformity Of Superconducting Films. ● Integration With Our Infrastructures.
