Tenders are invited for Consultant in Agroecology to Support Farmers Field Schools Activities in the Wonegizi-Wologizi Forest Landscape in Liberia A specific component of the project is dedicated to Sustainable farming systems & livelihoods in Wonegizi-Wologizi conservation areas periphery . Its objective is to improve cropping practices and agroecological farming in upland and lowland areas by facilitating hands-on learning of improved techniques and innovations among farmers and promoting their adoption. It will also support diversification and value addition within household economies in order to reduce dependence on land clearing and low-intensity practices. Within this component, the project team is currently developing a Farmer Field School approach. The FFS consists of a group of volunteers / available learners who meet together throughout the agricultural season to learn from each other, with the support of trained lead farmers. The FFSs objectives are: promoting and experimenting agro-ecological practices, co-producing innovations in agroecosystem management, improving the productivity and sustainability of farms, raising awareness among local communities about environmental issues and supporting the exchanges and team work between the farmers. A first batch of FFS will be implemented during the dry season (November to February) and another during the rainy season (March to October). A Consultant will be recruited to support the GRET team in activities related to the Farmers Field Schools. The consultant will begin work at the end of 2026. This period coincides with the launch of the dry-season FFS and precedes the launch of the rainy-season FFS. The consultant will provide support in identifying practices and techniques to be tested from the 2027 rainy and dry seasons in both upland and lowland areas and will provide the technical documents required to implement them. The consultant will also provide strategic and methodological recommendations to adjust the FFS and the relevant technical itineraries. The requested assignment is specified in the terms of reference attached to this document. Required Qualifications for External Expertise: · Higher education qualification (Masters degree) in agriculture, agribusiness or agricultural economics · Knowledge and/or proven, extensive experience in agroecology is essential · Good knowledge of and experience with farming systems in humid tropical regions · Experience in Farmer Field Schools · Good knowledge of technical and economic agrarian analysis · Good knowledge of West Africa, preferably of the Liberian Upper Guinean forest · Knowledge of Liberia is an asset · Fluent written and spoken English · High degree of autonomy, analytical skills, teaching ability and strong writing skills. · High degree of autonomy, analytical skills, pedagogical and strong writing abilities.
