Tenders are invited for Consultancy Services for the Design of a Solar Rooftop Cooling System and Climate-Smart School Garden Scope of Work The selected firm will be responsible for end-to-end design and technical planning, categorized into three core components. 3.1 Component 1: Solar Rooftop Cooling System Design Site Assessment: Conduct structural assessments of targeted school roofs to determine load-bearing capacity, optimal solar panel placement, and shading profiles. Evaluate current classroom airflow and thermal dynamics. System Engineering: Design an appropriate, low-maintenance solar PV system (panels, inverters, and necessary battery storage) tailored to the schools operating hours. Cooling Integration: Select and specify high-efficiency cooling mechanisms (e.g., DC ceiling fans, roof water spray, close loop/recycling water system, including storage, etc.) powered by the solar rooftop array. Safety & Weatherproofing: Ensure all electrical components and structural mountings adhere to national safety standards, are child-proofed, and can withstand severe weather (high winds, heavy rain). Supply and installation: Ensure that the agreed equipment and materials are supplied with high quality, equipment is installed correctly following technical standard. 3.2 Component 2: Climate-Smart School Garden Design Spatial Layout: Design a functional garden layout integrated seamlessly into the existing school grounds, ensuring accessibility for all students. Net-house construction: At least a small net-house shall be installed at the garden Water Management: Design a sustainable water use system, which may include rainwater harvesting catchments, low-flow drip irrigation, and solar-powered water pumps. Educational Features: Incorporate clear signage, learning pathways, and demonstration zones to support teachers in using the garden to teach STEM and environmental science. 3.3 Component 3: Operations & Maintenance (O&M) O&M Manual: Develop a clear, visual, and user-friendly manual tailored for school management committees, teachers, and students to ensure long-term operational sustainability. Capacity Building: Deliver practical, hands-on training to school committees and staff on routine system maintenance and basic troubleshooting. 4. Expected Deliverables Deliverable Key Details & Requirements 1. Inception Report & Designs The selected firm will develop work plan with initial findings from preliminary data collection, and system designs and structural drawings/schematics (2D and 3D) of solar PV system and irrigation system, and detail system/components specification. 2. Supply & Installation Once designs are agreed by LLC, selected firm will supply all equipment and materials required following the designs and specifications and install them as agreed drawings and designs. 3. Testing & Monitoring Contractor will monitor the operation and functioning of the system for a period of at least 3 months after the installation completion to ensure no error and proper functioning of the two systems. 4. O&M Manual & A user-friendly guide for operating the cooling system and Capacity Building maintaining the climate-smart garden is produced.
