Supply, Delivery, and Installation of Solar Dryer and Cassava Chipping Machine for Rwetech Farmers Cooperative Society Limited in Busoga Region 1. Smart solar dryer: Dryer dimensions: approximately 8 m wide × 30 m long; recommended sidewall height of 2.5 m and ridge height of approximately 4.0 m. Nominal capacity: Approximately 4,000 kg per batch for grains or products suitable for a loading specification density of approximately 15 kg/m². Capacity for fruits, vegetables and herbs shall be declared separately. Drying period: Target of 23 days, depending on the crop, initial moisture, final moisture and weather conditions. Structure: Corrosion-protected galvanized-steel frame, structurally designed and securely anchored for site wind conditions. Covering: Minimum 200-micron UV-stabilized greenhousegrade polyethylene, securely tensioned and rainproof. Floor: Smooth, washable concrete floor with dark, non-toxic solar-absorbing finish and controlled drainage. Drying racks: Minimum 48 modular rack units arranged in four longitudinal banks, with three drying levels. An equivalent arrangement may be accepted provided it delivers the required drying area and accessibility. Side rack modules: 24 units, each approximately 2.0 m long × 0.6 m wide × 1.71.75 m high. Central rack modules: 24 units, each approximately 2.0 m long × 1.2 m wide × 1.71.75 m high and accessible from both sides Total drying area: Minimum 259 m². Drying trays: Approximately 432 removable trays, each about 1.0 m × 0.6 m × 0.05 m deep. Tray material: Food-grade stainless steel, minimum Grade 304, with crop-appropriate mesh openings and at least 50% open area. Rack construction: Corrosion-resistant steel frame with minimum 40 × 40 × 1.5 mm uprights, adequate cross-bracing and a minimum shelf loading capacity of 30 kg/m². Rack spacing: Lowest shelf at least 300 mm above the floor, with approximately 550600 mm vertical spacing between drying levels. Working aisles: Minimum 1.0 m between central rack banks and 1.1 m between side and central racks. Handling tables: Two stainless-steel tables, each approximately 2.0 m long × 0.9 m wide × 0.85 m high, with a minimum load capacity of 200 kg. Exhaust fans: Six heavy-duty, energy-efficient axial exhaust fans, each rated at not more than 50 W and delivering at least 2,200 m³/hour at 25 Pa. Fan arrangement: Installed on the exhaust end wall in two rows of three and controlled in three stages of two fans each. Total airflow: Minimum 13,200 m³/hour when all fans operate. Fan control: Automatic staged operation based on temperature, relative humidity and vapour-pressure difference, with variable-speed control and manual override. Air inlets: Minimum 1.8 m² net free inlet area, or approximately 3.0 m² gross screened area, with adjustable dampers and airflow-distribution baffles Environmental sensors: At least six internal temperature and humidity sensors and one external sensor; minimum accuracy of ±0.5°C and ±3% relative humidity. Monitoring system: Farm Shield, Farm Cloud or equivalent system providing real-time monitoring, alarms, automatic fan control and downloadable batch records. Minimum 12-month platform subscription shall be included. Solar PV system: Minimum 1.65 kWp, comprising three 550 W monocrystalline modules or equivalent, complete with mounting structure, protection and cabling Battery storage: Minimum 5.12 kWh LiFePO battery with integrated battery-management system and at least 4 kWh usable capacity. Hybrid invertor: Minimum 2 kVA, 48/51.2 V DC input and 230 V, 50 Hz AC output, with MPPT controller and grid or generator backup input. Moisture meter: Calibrated handheld digital moisture meter suitable for the specified crops, with accuracy of ±0.5 percentage points or better. Weighing scale: Calibrated digital platform scale with a minimum capacity of 1,000 kg. Documentation: Structural and electrical drawings, equipment datasheets, crop-specific drying procedures, operation and maintenance manuals and commissioning report. Installation and training: Complete site installation, testing and training of at least four operators in loading, controls, hygiene, moisture measurement, maintenance and recordkeeping. Warranty: Minimum 12-month comprehensive system warranty; separate manufacturer warranties for the structure, PV modules, battery, inverter, fans and sensors. 2. Cassava chipping machine: Application: Chipping fresh cassava roots for drying, flour production, animal feed or further processing Rated inputs capacity: Not less than 500 kg of fresh cassava roots per hour Piece 1. Guaranteed continuous capacity: Not less than 500 kg of fresh cassava roots per hour Feeding method: Manual, continuous gravity feeding through a suitably inclined hopper Cutting mechanism: Replaceable-blade rotary disc or equivalent proven chipping mechanism Chip form: Uniform slices or chips suitable for efficient sun or mechanical drying Standard chip thickness: Adjustable within approximately 3 10 mm Preferred operating setting: Approximately 58 mm, unless otherwise directed by the purchaser Chipping efficiency: At least 90% by mass of the material discharged as acceptable chips Unprocessed or oversized material: Not more than 5% by mass, excluding unavoidable end pieces Product loss: Not more than 5% by mass during normal operation Engine type: Four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled petrol engine Engine rated power: Minimum 5 hp (3.7 kW); preferably 6.5 hp (4.8 kW) to provide adequate starting torque and operating reserve Engine starting system: Recoil/manual start; electric start may be offered as an additional feature Fuel: Unleaded petrol Fuel tank capacity: Minimum 3 liters Engine controls: On/off switch, throttle control, fuel shut-off valve and choke Power transmission: Heavy-duty V-belt and pulley drive, or an equivalent protected transmission system Cutting disc speed: Selected by the manufacturer to achieve the guaranteed throughput and chip quality; normally approximately 400900 rpm, depending on cutter design Shaft: Corrosion-resistant or food-grade stainless-steel shaft, minimum 25 mm diameter, or manufacturers equivalent proven design Bearings: Heavy-duty sealed bearings, greaseable or maintenance-free, readily available in Uganda Cutting blades: Hardened food-grade stainless steel, removable, sharpenable and replaceable Number of blade sets supplied: One installed set plus at least one complete spare set Food contact parts: Minimum AISI 304 stainless steel, including the hopper, cutting chamber, blades and discharge chute Non-food contact frame: Heavy-duty welded mild-steel angle or box section, protected by food-safe primer and corrosionresistant finish Hopper design: Adequately sized, inclined hopper that prevents cassava roots from bouncing out and limits operator access to moving blades Discharge chute: Stainless-steel chute positioned for safe collection of chips in trays, sacks or containers Frame: Rigid, stable and vibration-resistant frame, suitable for operation on a level concrete floor Mobility: At least two heavy-duty wheels and handles, or another arrangement allowing safe movement Stability: Locking wheels, stabilizing legs or anchoring points to prevent movement during operation Safe guards: Full guarding of belts, pulleys, shafts, bearings and rotating cutting components Feed safety: Hopper throat or feed arrangement designed to prevent the operators hands reaching the cutting mechanism Emergency stopping: Clearly accessible engine stop switch or emergency shut-off control Noise and vibration: Machine shall operate without abnormal vibration, excessive noise or movement Cleaning: Cutting chamber, hopper and discharge chute shall be readily accessible for cleaning without specialized tools Drainage & hygiene: No inaccessible pockets that retain cassava residues or wash water Corrosion resistance: All exposed surfaces shall resist humid tropical operating conditions and contact with cassava Operating environment: Suitable for outdoor sheltered or rural agro-processing use in Uganda. Spare parts support: Supplier shall guarantee availability of engine, bearing, belt and blade replacements for at least 5 years.
