Work Detail
Supply Of A New Bucket Chain And Related Components For Kent Yard Asphalt Plant. . The City Of Vancouver’S Engineering Department’S Kent Yard Asphalt Plant, Located At 900 East Kent Avenue, S.E., Is Integral To The City’S Major Capital Paving Projects, As Well As Regular Maintenance Work To Keep Streets Safe And Clear, Such As Filling Potholes, Sealing Cracks, And Making Emergency Repairs. The City Maintains And Restores More Than 1,400 Km Of Roads (Arterial And Local) And 770 Km Of Lanes: Maintenance Of Roads Includes The Cleaning And Maintenance Of Roadways 365 Days Per Year, Sealing Cracks To Keep Water Out And Prevent Long-Term Pavement Damage, And Applying Timely Pothole Repairs To Reduce The Frequency Of Larger, More Expensive Rehabilitation Work; And Restoration Of Roads Also Includes The Addition Of Green Infrastructure, Plazas, Bike Lanes, Or Street Trees. The City Also Realizes Significant Revenues With The Sale Of Asphalt To Third-Party Customers. Reason For Sole Source: The Asphalt Plant Currently Has An Immediate Requirement For A New Bucket Chain And Related Components, To Replace The Existing Ones Which Have Reached End-Of-Life And Pose A High Risk Of Asphalt Plant Infrastructure Damage, Interruption To Asphalt Production (Potentially For Weeks Or Months), And Safety Risk To Plant Staff And Customers. An Order Needs To Be Placed In September 2026, Allowing For A 5-Week Delivery By End-October/Early-November. This Contemplated Supply And Delivery Is A One-Time Purchase Only. Installation Of The New Equipment Will Take Place In November/December 2026, Or At The Latest In January 2027 During The Asphalt Plant’S Shutdown Period. Applied Industrial Technologies Is An Authorized Supplier For The Webster Industries Brand Bucket Chain And Related Components. Because The Equipment Will Come From The Us, Any Delay In The City Placing A Purchase Order May Result In Increased Transportation Costs, Increased Forex Risk, Potential Tariff Impacts, Loss Or Cessation Of Production Capacity, And Loss Of City Revenues.
