Tenders Are Invited For Tallinn Helsinki Optical Relay (Thor) Testbed (Artes 4.0 Sl Spl 6C.092) - Requested Objective:To Develop A Portable Modem That Can Be Easily Integrated In An Existing Optical Ground Station To Make It Compatible With Estol Specificationstargeted Improvements:Increased Interoperability Between Existing Optical Ground Stations And Future Satellite Systems (E.G., Hydron).Description:There Are A Number Of Existing Or Planned Optical Ground Stations (Ogss) That Are Currently Used For Scientific Missions Or To Demonstrate Quantum Technologies. Those Ogss Are Not Compliant To The Esa Specifications For Terabit/S Optical Links (Estol). To Maximise The Benefit Of Early Member State Investments, The Activity Shall Develop An Upgrade Kit" For Multiple Existing Ogs Infrastructures. An Easy-To-Integrate Modem Will Facilitate The Upgrade Of Such Existing Or Planned Ogssand Increase Their Interoperability With Future Commercial And Institutional Systems That Will Adopt Estol And Its Evolutions.Thisactivity Shall Develop A Portable Breadboard For An Estol-Compliant Modem. In The Scope Of The Activity, It Shall Be Assumed That The Target Existing Ogss Have Already Been Developed In Terms Of Optical Elements (E.G., Aperture, Adaptive Optics, Etc.) In Order Tobe Compatible With Estol. The Portable Modem Shall Be Connected To The Optical Part Of The Ogs By Optical Fibre, And It Shall Implement Both Transmit And Receive Functionalities. The Modem Breadboard Shall Come With A Gui And An Interface Control Document To Facilitate Its Fast And Easy Integration And Use. The Functionalities Of The Portable Modem Shall Be Validated In The Contractors Laboratory And In An Existing Selected Ogs.
