Laboratory, Optical And Precision Equipments (Excl. Glasses) – A Complete High-Speed Scanning Particle Image Velocimetry (High-Speed Piv) System. Epfl Plans To Acquire A Complete High-Speed Scanning Particle Image Velocimetry (High-Speed Piv) System For Its Hydraulic Machines Technology Platform (Ptmh) Of The Associate Vice-Presidency For Centers And Platforms (Avp-Cp). This Equipment Will Be Dedicated To Cutting-Edge Research In Fluid Dynamics, In Particular On Complex, Unsteady And Transient Flow Phenomena, With Applications To Hydroelectricity. Taking Into Account The Needs Of Epfl And The Specific Scientific Objectives Of The Ptmh, Unfold And Head Laboratories, Emphasis Will Be Placed On The Following Areas Of Research: Use Of High-Speed Stereo-Piv, Associated With A Controlled Positioning System, In Order To Perform Near-Instantaneous And Finely Resolved Measurements Of The Flow Field For: - Unsteady And Transient Flow Phenomena In Hydraulic Machines, With Particular Emphasis On Rapid Load Variations And Transient Sequences. - Flow Stability, Instabilities And Flow Control In Complex Hydraulic Systems. - Vortex Dynamics And Flow Separation Mechanisms, Including The Identification And Evolution Of Coherent Structures. - Cavitation Dynamics And Their Interaction With Unsteady Flow Fields. - Turbulent Flows Loaded With Particles, Including The Modulation Of Turbulence Induced By Sediments And Transport Linked To Erosion.
