Work Detail
Consultative Engineering And Construction Services – Albus - Ecole St-Aubin. The Project Provides For The Construction Of A New School Establishment While Maintaining The Operation Of The Site Thanks To Phasing The Work In Three Successive Stages. This Organization Constitutes One Of The Main Challenges Of The Civil Engineering Mandate. It Requires Rigorous Planning, Constant Anticipation Of The Interfaces Between The Different Phases As Well As Close Coordination With The Project Owner, The Team Of Agents And The Companies. The Objective Is To Guarantee User Safety, Business Continuity, Compliance With Deadlines And Cost Control Throughout The Project. The First Stage Consists Of The Deconstruction Of The School Building, Known As “La Grange” And The Existing Garages In Order To Free Up The Space Necessary For The Construction Of The New School. In Order To Ensure The Continuity Of School Activities During This Phase, Three Variants, Which Can Be Implemented Independently. The First Provides For The Provision Of Temporary Classrooms On The School Site, While The Second And Third Consist Of Setting Up A Temporary Pavilion At The Location Of The “Sports Site” Or The “Agricultural Site”. During This Phase, The Civil Engineer Is Responsible For Analyzing The Constraints Of The Site, Identifying The Existing Networks, Defining The Measures To Preserve The Stability Of The Land And Neighboring Structures And Planning The Earthworks As Well As The Adaptations Of The Buried Infrastructures And Foundations Of The Temporary Pavilions. Particular Attention Is Paid To The Organization Of Site Access, The Safety Of Site Users And The Recovery Of Materials From Deconstruction In An Environmentally Friendly Approach. The Second Stage Corresponds To The Construction Of The New School Complex And The Transformation Of The Existing Building, Known As “La Ferme”. The Constructive Concept Adopted Is Based On A Structural System Composed Of Prefabricated Wooden Sails, Organized According To A Regular Pattern Common To All Of The Buildings. This Repetitive Typology Makes It Possible To Develop A Solution That Is Rational, Economical And Easily Reproducible. The Use Of Wood As The Main Material Limits The Use Of Concrete, Which Is Mainly Reserved For The Foundations And Plinths Of Buildings, Which Helps To Reduce The Carbon Footprint Of The Project. The Prefabrication Of Structural Elements Also Constitutes A Major Advantage Since It Makes It Possible To Reduce The Duration Of On-Site Interventions, To Control The Quality Of Workmanship And To Reduce The Nuisance Linked To The Construction Site For Students, Teaching Staff And Local Residents. This Phase Concentrates The Main Technical Issues Of The Project. The Civil Engineer Designs And Sizes Structures By Seeking Durable, Robust And Economically Optimized Solutions, Complying With Sia Standards And The Project Owners Requirements. He Ensures Harmonious Integration
