The R250 – Droichead An Churraoin Road Realignment Is Located On The R250 Regional Road. The Droichead An Churraoin, Located Approximately 1.3 Km West Of Fintown, Co. Donegal Is A Narrow Masonry Arch Structure With A Span Of 1.83 M And A Width Of 5.28 M. The Bridge And Its Immediate Approaches Have Been Identified As A Safety Blackspot Due To A Combination Of Poor Horizontal And Vertical Alignment, Substandard Cross-Sectional Width, And Deteriorating Pavement Conditions. The Western Approach Exhibits Fatigue And Alligator Cracking, While The Bridge Itself Has Suffered Parapet Damage From Vehicular Impacts, Compromising Edge Restraint And Posing A Significant Hazard To Road Users. The Purpose Of This Contract Is To Conduct The Detailed Ground Investigation To Progress The Detailed Design Of The Scheme. The Gi Will Extend Over The Entire Length Of The Proposed Road Development. Ground Investigation Points Will Be Carried Out In The Areas Of The Existing And New Road Construction With A Number Of Trial Pits To Be Carried Out In Green Field Sites. The Objective Of The Ground Investigation Is To Ascertain The Ground And Groundwater Conditions That Will Be Encountered Along The Route Of The R250 – Droichead An Churraoin Road Realignment And To Investigate Anomalies Which May Be Identified During The Investigation.
