Quotation are invited for Repair of Richards Bay Civic Centre Standby Generator. Closing Date: 25 August 2026 1. Background Current stand by generator is located at the basement for Richards Bay civic center for alternative power supplies to essential electrical circuits which includes council chamber precinct, Mayor and city managers office, UPS for IT for COU IT system together with dedicated plugs for the rates. The generator motor has got major oil leaks and requires urgent repairs before it breakdown completely, which will be costly to repair in a short period of time with no other means of alternative supply in place. 2. Goals and Objectives a) Goals: To ensure continuous and uninterrupted power supply to key municipal buildings in case of power failures and smooth operations of standby generators to maintain optimum performance and reliability. b) Objectives: To source a suitable experienced service provider for the generator urgent repairs for compliance in terms of the occupational health and safety Act (OHSACT), Act 85 of 1993. 3. Requirements Only Contractors registered with: a) Valid registration letter from the department of employment and labour as an electrical contractor in terms the Ohsact. b) Valid registration with the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) as mechanical contractor with a minimum 1ME category or higher Note: Contractors failing to submit the above documents will be disqualified . Employers requirements for the services The successful contractor is expected to: a) Carry out corrective repairs on motor. b) Drain coolant and top up with new c) Drain oil and top up with new d) Replace defective fuel sensor e) Replace current AMF 120MK3 generator panel with new to meet requirements of monthly inspections f) Replace fuel indicator pipe on the generator fuel tank with new g) Replace coolant horse pipes h) Clean up the entire plant room and be free from oil 5. Generator repairs Successful service provider is expected to a) Assess Provide a detailed work programme indicating how best the work will be carried out with less interruptions considering power failure whilst busy with repairs. b) Interact with and notify IT with all activities on this project guided by the work programme c) Order all spares required before commencing with work entailed d) Work on the motor to be completed within limited time from commencement period e) Other work which includes generator panel and one required on the fuel tank to be separated from the one above. 6. Special Notes Successful bidder: a) Is expected to deliver quality work at all times and will be fully responsible for generator failures recurring there after. b) All work to be completed over a period prescribed on 7 below. c) Service provider to commence with work once the safety file has been approved in writing by OHS d) Service provider must interact with the project manager on how best they will carry out their repair work with less interruption and agree on possible dates to carry out their work. e) Notify the end IT timeously, through the project leader on dates theyll interrupt power supplies whilst carrying out required tests for the project leader to avail him/herself for verification of tests. f) All required tests must be carried out in the presence of the project leader g) Work area must be kept clean from Spider web, oil, grease and dust.
