With The Natural Climate Protection (Ank) Action Program, The Federal Government Has Set Itself The Goal Of Significantly Improving The General Condition Of The Ecosystems In Germany. The Ank Aims To Protect The Climate By Strengthening Natural Ecosystems. The Ank Thus Combines Climate Protection With The Protection Of Biodiversity. Often, Further Synergies Arise – For Example For Adapting To Climate Change. The Ank Promotes Measures With Which Nature Acts As A Climate Protector - I.E. Where Moors, Forests, Water Bodies, Soils Or Green Spaces Bind Greenhouse Gases, Avoid Emissions And At The Same Time Improve Habitats. The Central Goals Of The Ank Are Therefore To Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions (E.G. By Rewetting Peatlands), Strengthening Carbon Storage In Natural Sinks, Increasing The Resilience Of Ecosystems, Adapting To Climate Change (E.G. Water Retention, Cooling, Flood Protection), And Maintaining And Restoring Biological Diversity. This Position Supports The Bmukn In The Implementation Of The Ank And Ank 2.0 Ff As Well As In The Planning, Control, Implementation, Monitoring And Evaluation Of The Ank Measures.
