Role : Freelance Translation, Transcription, and Interpretation Services Reports To: Research Coordinator / Communication Coordinator Department / Unit: Research Unit / Communication Unit Contract Type: Service-based / freelance and task-by-task basis Purpose: Provide high-quality Arabic-English translation and transcription services for organizational reports, assessments, communication products, proposals, and programmatic materials. Scope of Services & Key Deliverables Assignments will be issued on a task-by-task basis based on organizational needs. Services include: Written Translation: Arabic to English and English to Arabic (priced per word, per 250-word page, or lump sum for $6+$ pages). Audio Transcription: Verbatim audio transcription in Arabic or English (priced per audio minute). Transcription & Translation: Combined transcription and translation of Arabic audio into English text or vice versa (priced per audio minute). In-Depth Interviews (IDIs): Verbatim transcription and translation (priced per interview or as a package for $5+$ interviews). Focus Group Discussions (FGDs): Verbatim transcription and translation (priced per session/hour or as a package for $5+$ FGDs). Proofreading & Editing: Priced per page of 250 words. Subtitling & Captioning: Priced per video minute. Interpretation: Consecutive or simultaneous interpretation (priced per hour or day). Performance Indicators & Quality Standards Accuracy: At least 95% of translated content accurately reflects the meaning of the source. Timeliness: 100% of assignments submitted by agreed deadlines. Quality & Consistency: Minimal revisions required; consistent use of approved terminology. Strict AI Policy: Translations and transcripts must not be generated, in whole or in part, using artificial intelligence or machine-translation tools. Confidentiality: Full compliance with data security, non-disclosure, and mandatory permanent deletion of files after final acceptance. Requirements & Qualifications Language Proficiency: Strong written and spoken command of Arabic and English. Experience: Demonstrated Arabic-English translation and transcription experience (including clean and verbatim transcription of FGDs and IDIs). Relevant experience with NGOs, humanitarian, research, protection, advocacy, or donor-funded projects. Interpretation experience is considered an asset. Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, Google Workspace, transcription tools, and preserving formatting. Key Terms, Tax, and Payment Deliverable Ownership: All deliverables remain the sole property of B&Z. Taxation: Consultants registered with the Ministry of Finance must provide proof of registration. For non-registered consultants, B&Z will deduct an 8.5% tax from payments and remit it on the consultants behalf.
