Tenders are invited for Journalistic Skills and Competencies Training Program. Closing Date: Friday, 14. Aug 2026 Intervention Sector(s): Communications & Media, Development Building on its local experience and resources, DW Akademie is implementing a regional program in journalistic skills and competencies. Funded by theGerman Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), this program aims to respond to the crisis facing journalism in the region by countering disinformation and propaganda, promoting fact-based public discourse, and creating new spaces for dialogue in Lebanon and Syria.Media organizations are invited to submit a training package that combines workshops and peer-to-peer coaching methods, designed to enhance the technical and/or journalistic competencies of media workers, citizen journalists as well as journalism students. The program is to be carried out in three phases : Design Phase: - design a program on the selected topic; - design a baseline assessment to identify needs and proficiency level, as well as an endline assessment that would document learning outcomes; - design workshops following interactive training methods by DW Akademie standards with detailed plan, hands-on activities and modes of measurement. Implementation Phase: - conduct physical trainings program in Arabic, adapted to the needs of a total of 30 participants. Coaching Phase: - peer-to-peer coaching on production material when applicable. Objectives: Design and deliver tailored trainings and peer coaching to build technical and journalistic competencies for media workers and students. Tasks: Designing and conducting tailored training packages tailored for citizens journalists, media workers and/or journalism students. Proposed Training Topics: local journalism, data journalism, science journalism, MIL, digital security, physical and psychological safety, AI literacy, dialogue formats, and fact checking. Delivering documentation including visibility material and a final narrative report. Eligibility Criteria: Candidates who will contribute to the program need to observe the following: Specialization and Proficiency Proven track record in managing media initiatives (Journalism education/ MIL), including prior experience working with DW Akademie or similar international media partners Relevance and Alignment with project The proposal directly addresses the objectives of the call, focusing on media skills and geared towards the general public interest, with a clear potential for practical media skill application, audience reach, and sustainable learning outcomes. Respectful communication practices and track record clean of hate speech Demonstrated respect for diversity, inclusion, and pluralism in professional work. No evidence of hate speech, incitement to violence, or discriminatory content in published work or social media presence. Training method and approach Experience designing and delivering interactive trainings and reporting on them. Proficiency in engaging training approaches, with awareness to group size and diversity, and conflict-sensitivity. Commitment to safe digital, physical and psychological practices Promoting healthy psychological, physical, and digital safety practices in the training environment and during the coaching phase. Coordination and delivery of material Smooth and timely coordination with project managers on deliverables like: training program and material, pre- and post- training evaluations, and training report. Budget and Timeline Financial offers should not exceed the amount of 10,000 USD. Implementation Period: between September 15 until December 10 2026.
