Archaeological Services – Consultation Of Preventive Archaeological Excavations As Part Of The Development Of The Perrin Zac. The Archaeological Intervention Is Located In The Commune Of Abymes At A Place Called Belle Plaine In Perrin, In The Southwest Of Grande-Terre De Guadeloupe. The Topography Of The Sector Corresponds To A Vast Plain Of 10-20 Meters Altitude Punctuated By A Few Small Isolated Hills. The Abymes Plain Has An Agricultural Vocation, Predominantly Sugarcane. The Project To Build 225 Housing Units By Semsamar Led To A Diagnosis Being Carried Out. Pre-Columbian Occupations Are Known In The Area, Including A Neo-Indian Site Located Near The Current Development Project And Which Was The Subject Of A Preventive Archaeological Excavation In 2013 (Patriarch Site No. 97 105 0105). Concerning The Colonial Era, The Installation Of The First Dwellings Dates Back To The First Quarter Of The 18Th Century: The Survey Plan Established By Amaudric De Sainte Maure In 1732 Attests That With The Exception Of The Grands-Fonds Sector, Most Of The Land Has Already Been Granted To Individuals For The Installation Of Agro-Manufacturing Operations (Ref.: Anom, Dfc Guadeloupe, C. 26, F°69).
