Aug 2026 Intervention Sector(s): Conflict Resolution This session is based on practical experience in accompanying facilitators and peacebuilders during protracted crises, and aims to share lessons learned, proven practices, and experiences on how to work in high-pressure environments while remaining responsive to the needs of individuals and groups, and supporting ourselves and others while working. Target audience: Workers in conflict environments, peacebuilding practitioners, facilitators, trainers, and humanitarian and psychosocial workers. First session: Tuesday, August 11 Second session: Tuesday, August 18th. Sharing simple and effective practical practices that help build safety, trust, and communication within group spaces. Sharing practical experience that can be directly transferred to daily work in conflict-affected environments. Methodology: The workshop combines Nonviolent Communication (NVC) approaches, trauma-sensitive approaches, and lessons learned from fieldwork. We employ an interactive methodology that integrates dialogue, reflection, and practical exercises, utilizing creative, artistic, kinetic, and physical tools to support participants and regulate their response to stress, thus enabling a learning experience that fosters intellectual, emotional, physical, and relational engagement. The trainers: Aida Hussein: A trainer and facilitator who supports individuals and groups in dealing with protracted crises in Lebanon. She integrates nonviolent communication with creative and artistic methods to foster authentic dialogue, emotional depth, self-confidence, and relationship awareness during times of uncertainty. Baraa Hatoum: A clinical psychologist and facilitator of psychosocial support and learning spaces in conflict-affected contexts in Lebanon and Syria. She integrates nonviolent communication into psychotherapy, community work, and training program design, and works on developing peacebuilding and community-building initiatives.
