Tenders are invited for Optimized Nitrogen-Vacancy Centers Diamond Samples for Magnetometers Expro+ Objective: To develop a process to select and produce in an industrial way Nitrogen-vacancy centers Diamond samples for magnetometry applications.Description: Magnetic field measurements from low Earth orbit are important for understanding Earths magnetosphere, monitoring of space weather, and studying geophysical processes. These measurements provide insights into solar-terrestrial interactions and help mitigate risks to both orbital infrastructure and terrestrial systems. However, classical magnetic sensors face limitations in sensitivity, long-term stability, and integrability due to size, weight, and power (SWaP) constraints of space missions. As with the onset of small platforms (i.e. cubesats), these challenges become increasingly apparent. With quantum sensing technologies emerging as a transformative solution for future Earth Observation missions. One particularly promising platform is quantum magnetic field sensors based on nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond. Their unique electronic and spin properties enable scalar and vector magnetometry with high theoretical sensitivity, robustness, radiation hardness, and potential for miniaturization make them anideal candidate for space applications. NV-based sensors combine the advantages of high performance and integrability, offering an alternative to overcome the limitations of classical sensors. Despite these benefits, quantum sensors still face challenges such as the need for further power consumption optimization, noise suppression, and integration into spacecraft systems.The activity encompasses the following tasks:- Literature review on NV centre generation - Development of samples based on EO needs - Characterisation testing - Process review for large manufacturing of NV samples.Procurement Policy: C(1) = Activity restricted to non-prime contractors (incl.
